In due time.. just need to figure things out on memory oc'ing behavioral characteristics of this board

Currently, I'm simultaneously testing several motherboards, DFI X38-T2R, Asus Blitz Extreme, Blitz Formula, P5K3 Deluxe, Asus 680i Striker Extreme and Gigabyte X38-DQ6 / X38T-DQ6 and don't have that many cpus to go around LOL

Yeah seems similar.. one thing you mentioned adjusted SG cpu temp to match coretemp from bios ?? which bios you using for that ? I'm on 11/28.

I will be using this board in Stacker832 and thought about organizing airflow from cpu heatsink (ultra 120 extreme) towards the top exhaust, either towards the back of the case.

If somebody could measure or tell if that would be possible using HR-05 SLI/IFX (mounting it so that it blocks first pci-express slot)? Or is the slot itself is too tall and it cannot be positioned in that way?

I'm also using the 11/28 BIOS. The setting is in the PC Health section. I needed to set it at +14 for this CPU. Seems to track well from idle to load compared to CoreTemp.

It appears that the board slightly overvolts the processor. I've sent a request concerning that and a couple of other things that hopefully will be addressed in the next BIOS update.

Why not normal HR-05 heatsink ?

Best i can do for you is take a photo of HR-05 side on with stock DFI X38 heatsink to compare. As far as I can tell the stock DFI LT X38 NB heatsink's wider base is what blocks the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme's heatpipes from being oriented the way where fan exhausts air out of case.

The Thermalright HR-05 has alot thinner base so I think it will fit.. but can't be sure. No time or motivation to install HR-05 on DFI LT X38.

Maybe Thermalright Ultima-90 better cpu heatsink for your situation ?

must of not looked carefully enough - haven't taken bios photos yet heh. My cpu has around 6-8C difference from SG vs Coretemp. Yeah vcore overvolts and CPU VTT/NB core don't align with bios monitoring but are much closer in SG.

If this is indeed and OS issue that I am having, it will be the first real problem that I've ever had running Vista 64. To me, it's more of ATI's drivers (and crossfire) sucking. That is, though, just my opinion.
I didnt mean Vista64 sucked entirely, I meant to say (or ask) I thought it was both SLI and Crossfire were very difficult to work with driverwise, and neither were working well on Vista64. Therefore dual graphics on Vista 64 sucked, not because of ATI or NV, but because of Vista64.

Your comment indicated that you blamed ATI... I was wondering if Nvidia SLI works well on V64???

I may have come across snippy, I didn't intend to, though. I haven't tried SLI at all with Vista 64, so I have no opinion on whether or not it's better or worse. My theory on my issue is that one of the updates for Vista 64 did not agree with the 7.11 driver. I have no idea which one, although if I felt like taking the time to install each one, one at a time, I'm sure I could narrow it down, but that moment has come and gone. The cards are already on there way back to newegg. This was really just an excuse to try something new out, test it if you will. I never intended to keep the setup for more than a month or two, so I really am not out much.

    Oh well, test UNSAT.

Panaflo 120x38mm 103cfm fan on TRUE... too early in my testing to really know - only set it up 20+ hrs ago. But definitely looking good so far

    Room temp = 25.3C to 28.8C

As Eva and I found out to use Everest with this board requires build 1219 or higher. I had tried several other versions and ended up having to reinstall Windows a couple of times.

1220 works without needing any "letters". If that is a serial you have posted I suggest you remove it before Admin sees it.

When you are in the Download Center, go to Chipsets - Desktop chipsets - Intel® 3 Series Chipsets, select your operating system and download the lastest version of "INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 3, 900 Series Chipsets". The file name is "infinst_autol.exe", the lastest version listed on Intel´s website is 8.3.1.1009
