I tried my Cell Shock with a E6600 too and they yielded the same result very extreme vdimm needed.

Like I said before personally I think its a brand incompatibility to some degree and I think just maybe feud with cell shock and DFI because of no samples

The same screenshot with SmartGuardian is what we need showing VDIMM. And what will they do at 4-4-4? On other chipsets they will do those timings at 1200MHz.

There is no issue between Cell Shock and DFI. As has been stated by practically every memory manufacturer it is an issue between the IC and the chipset limiting low voltage use.

@brother what exactly happens with the cellshock, what problems do you get?
since i seem to be having probs with my sticks OCZs failing memtest #6
and getting random crashes.
do they fail prime blend test at normal vdimms or is it emtest errors?

yep i think you are right about that.. im experiencing the same thing with my cellshock's too... maybe a future bios version might fix this in some degree

how long does it take to fail blend?
ive been running for past hour and all is well so far. test #6 memtest gets a few errors every time at about 20%. tried different timings,vdimms etc all the same so now gonna see if it will keep going on blend.

i think it could be the board and the sticks not liking each other. will also try later beta(im 0913 just now).

Alright guys I'm back! With a new problem :/

I just acquired a second x1950XTX identical to my first Sapphire.

I'm trying to get software crossfire to work on this thing and so far haven't had any luck. These cards are just two plan jane standard x1950XTX cards, not crossfire masters. As I understand it you can use two standard cards on this board through software crossfire.

Well I've got the cards in and everything but there's no option for crossfire in the CCC. Here's what I've tried.

1. Swapping the cards around - nothing

2. Changing the PCI-E to 4x/NC from 1x/1x in the BIOS- nothing

3. Reinstalled 7.11 drivers multiple times driver cleaning each time - nothing

4. Checked both cards in device manager, both are recognized and working fine, GPU-Z also see's two cards.

Both cards work fine, I'm on BIOS 9/13 as per my sig. I have no idea what else to try, this is irritating!

Can anybody help? Thanks!

You need the dongle for those cards if I remember correctly. As there is no PCI-E Bridge like the new cards.

Right again Esau, I looked up the ATi crossfire compatibility chart and it appears I need a master card which is what I thought in the first place.

Somehow I had it in my head that ATi did away with the dongle since drivers 6.11, well then I guess it only applies to the newer cards? That's weird since the x1950XTX's were out around that time.

According to the chart I could do crossfire if I had an x1950 CF card, but that's going in the wrong direction :P

well im not further forward to this bizarre memtest #6 errors, prime blend test passing 24 hours+. lol.

Well that doesn't make much sense pumbertot, did the Memtest #6 errors start happening after you did the prime testing? By the way what motherboard/RAM are you running?

when i was overclocking i used maximum 2.27 vdimm and smart guardian reported 2.0 - 2.2v

does the dfi overvolt? i had never used more than 2.25 with my p5b dlx and now in one day dfi burned my ballistix

Man I run at 1920x1200 no exceptions, I'll lower detail settings before I drop resolution. My current x1950XTX is a 512MB card there's no WAY I'm dropping to 256MB's.

The board is pretty much dead-on as to what is set in the BIOS. All software programs report the voltage lower then what is set.
