Glad you asked that.Is vertically the proven way to have it for best performance?
With my Apogee GT the answer was yes.
With the EK Supreme my results say no. Horizontal is best.

I have no tested indefinitely, as there is already a block mounted on my CPU but clearance even on the DFI P35 board seems close and that's the cleanest CPU socket area on the market (arguably).
