    i got my GTS bios over at www.mvktech.net, but i supposed the one above will work fine.

    GPU-Z doesn't really work with it, cause nvidia's drivers aren't installed, just generic windows vga drivers.

    here's an image of it:

    Same here.

    The card's device id is 610.

    Normaly GTS has 600 and GT has 611.

    Maybe a protection or its because of the missing sp units.

    yeah, your right about the device ID. Weird thing is if you read it back from the card using Nibitor, it says 600.. but GPU-Z says it is 610. which must be what the drivers think it is as well, since they say there are no recognized devices to install the drivers for.

    It was worth a try i guess

    edit: i edited the .inf for the drivers. added strings for the 610 device ID, and it was able to install the drivers then... but it thinks it's some weird version of an 8800GT... which i guess all it really is lol

    That is what i did.
    But the card runs realy unstable with the 169.13 driver.
    Maybe there is any difference with an official GTS driver.

    Could you get a voltage gain?
    The GTS has 1,15V in bios.
    My card has a v-mod, so i could not measure.

    i can't really check, cause i am at work and was doing all that via VNC... until i decided to run atitool to stress it.. now my computer isn't responding over VNC anymore... i guess it locked up the videocard.. or black screened.. will have to check when i get home.

    seems odd that that would happen, since it gets a GPU mismatch when going from GT to GTS as well, which i over rided using the switched you list above. guess i'll let you know when i get home and attemt to reflash mine back to a GT.

    I'm sorry to hear that, i flashed mine back to stock bios the same way without problems.

    I had a look in GPU-Z Database, there are many cards with different gts bios versions.

    .25
    .26
    .39
    .49

    Most cards are not complete recognized as GTS 512 from GPU-Z.
    The only two cards that GPU-Z shows correctly, use the 169.06 driver.

    But all cards are recognized as device id 600.

    Well, let's give it an other try with a newer bios and gts driver.

    I notice that both the GT and GTS say A2 revision for the chip.

    If it isnt a GPU-Z problem, then perhaps there is some hope that the SPs are not cut.

    What type of benchmarks are you getting since you got windows to recognize this as an nvidia card?

    With my eVGA bios i couldnt overclock the card very much, but with the XFX bios i used here, with the 1.1v mod, my card works great at 756/1890, also if you want a good game to check stability of your vmem, try Pro Evolution Soccer 2008..........so bios really had an effect on overclock, give this bios a shot and report back with results....great bios.

    All I do is change extra to 1.1v and not mess with VID's?

    My extra mode is blank. I could select 1.1

    This was supposedely the stock 8800GT from EVGA but it came at SC speeds

    using 1.1v is cheating. Did you add that yourself, or did XFX actually do this for their lowest end card?

    He's saying he modified both bios to 1.1v and the XFX bios still gave him better OC.
    but with the XFX bios i used here, with the 1.1v mod, my card works great at 756/1890

    To summarise, if you want to try the GT to GTS flash.

    GTS bios

    Needs the latest NiBiTor v3.6

    169.06 drivers Vista32 or XP.

    Using Nvflash -4-5-6 command to force the ID.

    Second that.
    Sometimes it crashes under 2D on Windows Desktop.

    @fornowagain

    I can confirm that the 169.06 driver works with folowing G92 cards

    NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0600.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512"
    NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0611.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT"
    NVIDIA_G92.DEV_061A.1 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700"

    There is also an new G92 based Quadro FX 3700.
