Its' only about manufacturers support. Support code for Phenom is around 30KB, but some manufacturers filled their 4 MB BIOS chips full, and don't want to optimize... On the other hand all 8MB BIOS based mobos will work flawlessly... ofcourse, some manufacturers will manage to squeeze Phenom support in to a 4MB chip
