just purchased a Retail QX9650 and Abit's IX38 QuadGT board...we'll see now how the two boards compare.![]()

I'm becoming more and more frustrated with this board...
I just got some new memory: Crucial Ballistix 8500 after seeing the wonderful clocks people are getting with these sticks.
Where others are easily running 1100+ w/ cl4 I can barely get 1000 cl4 stable (errors out 45 min into P95).
I've tried upping my FSB to keep it in the 1st two dividers (read they're the easiest to oc) and no go... 450x8 w/ 1:1.2 for 1080... NOTHING
BOOOOOO!!!!
I think it's time to start looking for my next mobo
I just don't know what I'm doing wrong!!!
Anybody able to bail me out of this so I can keep my pretty abit board???

voltages my man, voltages...shove it up its arse.
why frustrate yourself with P95...it is useless unless you are going to fold or play heavy cpu demanding games...anything other than that, run wPrime, specifically the 1024M stability bench....the 1024 bench will make sure you have the right vcore to handle everyday apps.
i recommend max MCH and ICHIO with Vdimm around 2.4 when running P95.

I've been afraid to raise my mch past 5.8 or whatever it is... Is it safe to run @ 6.4 or 7.2? 24/7?
If it is, maximg it out will get me the clocks I'm looking for?
here's hoping!

has anyone run into the problem of Uguru reporting temps wrong?
every now and again Ugure will flash from 11c to 128c im sure the computer is not running 128c but it says it is. if ileave the program running after that issue it somtimes develops a horrid memory leak causing my whole system to slow down.
any ideas?
oh btw im using a coolit eliminator cooler so the temps are usually pretty low.
Yes, have you upgraded to the latest version 3.106 of uGuru? Sonofander, i've learned with overclocking to never assume you will reach the same speeds as others are. You will be quickly disappointed if you do! I have the crucial ballistix ddr 667 with the micron D9 and i cant even get CL4 at anything above 900 so consider yourself luckyI'm currently at 5-5-5-10 @ 986 mhz From my experience (and everyone has their own opinion about this) more clock speed FEELS faster to me than tighter timings.

i believe i have 3.104 wich is the latest i can find, where are you finding 106?
also i am using Vista ult. x64 if that makes a difference.
and one last thing what is a safe PWM temp? or rather whats the limit that i should worry about?
I use core temp to measure my cpu temp....uguru is always wrong on cpu temp for me, i am on vista 64 as well. Here's the link for 3.106 http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/mothe..._NAME=IP35+Pro maybe you will have better luck with itI do use uguru for all of the other changes and for watching my pwm temp however. I would say if you start getting into high 60's under load you should start thinking about adding a fan to your pwm area

HD Tach is reporting that my Esata drive is only running at half speed (1.5 instead of 3.0) both the drive and port are rated for 3g is there some setting I'm missing here?
might be a bios setting as the JMB363 supports SATAII,thats what the 2 Esata connectors are on.
http://www.jmicron.com/JMB363.html
are you running the newest driver for the JMB363?

I was a bit confused with Abit's site as it lists both a Jmicron install disk and SATA drivers. D/L the SATA and I ended up with Raid config utility... Tried the "install disk" file and that was drivers so I tried installing them both consecutively for fun checking drive speeds after each install. I think what actually bumped the speed up a bit though was changeing BIOS settings to AHCI, which bumped me up to about 2.30 which is better then 1.5 but still curious why I'm not getting the full 3.0GB speed. Given this is my only drive until my SAS controller comes in for my 15k's I'm kind of wanting this Esata drive to work at full speed in the mean time.![]()
Well after alot of waiting for some hardware to arrive (3 months lol) I cancelled my order which included 4 x 1GB Crucial PC8500s
So I have now (in the mail now) a set of PC6400 Reaper-Xs (4GB (2x2048) D/C Kit PN - OCZ2RPX800EB4GK) for my dust collecting IP35-PRO!
Has anyone had much success with these sticks? I've seen an overclocking guide on OCZ for these sticks and a review on pro-clockers.com but nothing else. Surely they should be better than having 4 x 1GB sticks! right?!? (If nohing else than I could upgrade to 8GB if needed! lol)
They should arrive this week and then I'll start but I'll be on air and the stock heatsink for a little while until my Water Cooling gear arrives next week (also in mail but from US)
Finally got a ABIT IP-35 Pro board after having problems with a XFX 680i which arrived DOA(not the best of starts for my first build) but i am more then happy now with the IP-35 Pro.
Just started to overclock my Q 6600 go (3.4 ghz ,32 degrees idle) but i am unsure about setting the memory up which apart from changing the voltage to 2.1..everything else reminds unchanged.
To be honest i dont know where in the Bios to make changes to the memory so thought i better ask for advice before i alter something which turns the sticks into smoking pieces of plastic.
The memory is 2x1GB Corsair Dominator, PC2-8500 (1066) which is cooled by 3 Corsair fans.
Will the memory be running at 1066 by default.?
Thanks
300 is the theoretical limit for the interface but the drives mechanically aren't capable of providing that.
Even your 230 will be in burst - continuous transfer rates will be under 100 even for a Raptor.
No, it won't be running 1066 by default.

Thanks for the help Heidfirst.![]()
Unfortunatley after i made the changes to the ram i tested it with VPrime Benchmark and it could not complete the test,it rebooted.
So erm.. i could do with abit more help.![]()
Before i changed the Ram settings i was running just over 3.4Mhz with a Dram speed of 756 and it was all very stable.
I changed to.3.6Mhz with a Dram speed of 800 and the timings to..
CAS 5
TRCD 5
TRP 5
TRAS 15
COM 2T
Volts where unchanged at 2.2.
I didnt change anything else but at these settings it was unstable.
Any ideas where i went wrong.?
Thanks again.
Very strange. I'm using a usb card reader also, but have USB Storage enabled without any probs.
Later batches of Ballistix aren't as good as the first ones. I've got a pair 2 weeks ago and the best it can do is 1080mhz 4-5-5-15 with 2.375v. Since u're using 4x1fgb, u can't expect much.
After testing 2 P35 boards (IP35 pro and gigabyte P35 DS4) with 6 different mem kits all i can say that latest Intel chipsets are way more picky with mem.
