Hi
If id have 8800GTS 512MB what kind of benchmarks would you like to see ?

I would run 3Dmark2006/05 at stock and overclocked. I could compare scores to 8800GT.

How about games?



The review:

It wasn't possible to install nvidia generic drivers, neither 169.09 and 169.13 would work.
I had to use the Gigabyte included CD with 169.06.

Trick to enable 8800 GTS 512 support in newest Nvidia drivers.

Edit with notepad nv_disp.inf, and then you have to find and replace two lines.

UPDATE:
First line , find:
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0611.1% = nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0611

and replace with:

%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0600.1% = nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0600
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0611.1% = nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0611
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_061A.1% = nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_061A

Second line, find:
NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0611.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT"
and replace with:
NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0600.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512"
NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS"
NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0611.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT"
NVIDIA_G92.DEV_061A.1 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700"

Save/Install/Be happy =)

Perfect, my screen is 22" with native 1680x1050.

I also have both games, so no problem and can do tests Tomorrow.
How can I record amount of FPS in those games ?

In Crysis you'll find two *.bat files in the Bin32 folder (the one where Crysis.exe is). One is called GPU and the other CPU. Run those and you'll get the results at the end. Each of them runs 4 loops of a timedemo. Also, take note that it uses your currently set game settings so adjust those before running them (1680x1050, all high, etc).

No idea about CoD though.

I can't even fathom, understand, or comprehend how people on xtremeforums, overclock.net, and others who say they have this card, cannot figure out how to run a series of benches, no offense.
It is very simple, go to guru3d.com and look at the benchmarks page.
Download fraps. go through a few series of quake wars and get the avg. Go to quake wars, run the gpu and cpu files.
Download the farcry bench file, download the demo of world in conflict and lost planet, since they both have internal benchmarks that can be executed on the options screen.
There are a million benchmarks, google them.
Here is a thread that drove me nuts and you can see why this has become a pet peeve for me. My post is on page 25-(246)

By saying "please look at my initial post" i meant that I've already listed "3Dmark05" there. I also meant that I don't want obvious tips, sort of "run GPU-Z", just wanted to turn your advices politely.

Just a hint...

If using games that doesn't come with integrated benchmark tools then best is to use different spots in games, such as loading a saved game and check what the fps is when standing still in the same spot.

anyway the difference between GT 512 and GTS 512 resembles GTS vs GTX

GTS 512 has:
8 more ROP (24 vs 16?)
16 more shaders (128 vs 112)
8 more Texture Address Unit, and Texture Filtering units (64 vs 58)

than GT 512

according to wiki it has more shader processing power than Ultra. the only thing holds it back is the mere 256bit interface and 512MB RAM, in 1920x1080 or above tho ... 512 is fine for 1680
