I think if you're just starting out on a 09xx series bios, you may as well go to the latest one? I just switched over and IMO it's A LOT more stable and as some other users have said, "more fluid".
Guys a lot of good information is getting shuffled in this long thread. Kup has a good idea we should start compiling a list of Bios (check), Bios cpu/ram settings, general uses that will benefit anyone who starts reading this thread (preferably in the OP).
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Cheers, Eastcoast! I just figured it would be a pain for me to track down older bios' for testing at a later date so I got as many as I could and saved them, and if I can help put other users, why not?
And here is the AsusUpdate that allows downgrading from the 09xx series.
AsusUpdate v6

Here is one example of some of the information lost in the shuffle:
-Check Asus website for bios updates regarding ASUS Maximus Formula and ASUS Maximus Formula SE. Remember there are not removable bios chips for these boards. You use any bios on this forum at your own risk!
-You get better N/S Bridge temps when you remove the factory TIM and apply AS5 Ceramic.
-When updating from one bios to another RESET YOUR CURRENT BIOS TO STOCK, NONE OC SETTINGS BEFORE FLASHING
-If the fusion water block on the chipset doesn't come off you can use a hair dryer to heat it. Or, you can cool the MB in the frig for a few hours in to chill the thermal compound. Either suggestion can damage your MB, you do this at your own risk!
-If you water cool the NB (SE version) it's best to use plastic clamps or worm drive, from Anandtech
-The black PCIe x1 port is proprietary for the included sound cardOur biggest gripes revolve around the somewhat disappointing execution of the supplied water block design and unreliable 1/2" tubing clamps when using high flow rate pumps
-Yes, there is a 1.03G out there http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=806
-It maybe worth the time to put a small 40mm fan on the s/b heatsink
-P5E is an excellent board if you are not looking for the features of the Maximus Formula
-Ultra 120 Extreme and clearance from the South Bridge heat sink using a 8800 http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=920
-SE has option for 3 thermal sensors however you have to buy the thermal sensor cable separate
-Use a 8-pin 12V connector
-In order to get charted voltage results using OCCT, start Everest and go to:
-Preferences
-External Applications:
Enable shared memory must be checked
There is more but this is all I could find at the moment.

Edit: pphx459, you only need 1.32 for vcore at 400 FSB? weird, I need to retest with this new BIOS... last time I tried 400 FSB, it needed a bare minimum of 1.38 otherwise things would go slightly odd, but I'm starting to believe that this was because I was playing around with RAM latencies too much. 0903 has put the latencies into perspective for me now.

ok,
i probably found why they removed the 0903 bios.
Unless im doing something wrong here, if in cpu configuration u enter a multiplier number (i.e. 9) and you want to change back to "auto" you canīt !! then you loose the speedstep option lololol of course going back to the main oc page the cpu will be 9 of course, and nothin else.
maybe this is not such a major problem, but its irritating not being able to go back to auto settings as an option.
You guys think i could keep the C1E state on to save power on low cpu loads, or just disable it.? any loss of performance on the cicle it takes the cpu to enter normal 9x mode from 6x.?

Seconded. I own the non-SE board and it is a revision 1.03G.
Wow, I am having a helluva time getting my system stable. I got a stable 30min blend test with OCCT at Grnfingers 450x8 settings ONCE, but I could not get a 2nd stable run. I'm air cooling with the TRUE and a Scythe 63 CFM and my temps seem very high. I routinely hit ~68C with the cpu when OCCT load testing. I need to clear and reflash the BIOS I think and start again at 400x9 which I've also run stable before but now it's not wanting to work. I'm even thinking of trying to reseat the TRUE, although I did note that there was a temp increase coming from the earlier BIOSs to the current 901/3.
I had asked before for anyone to post their 450x8 stable BIOS settings. I've seen Grnfinger has started to run into trouble with his, which were at least a good starting point for me. I haven't exhaustively searched, but right now I've just got one BIOS template posted by Maglin on the 11/16 for some good 400x9 BIOS settings.
Since we're trying to consolidate info, would anyone who's able please post their stable 400x9 BIOS settings using the template here:

Thanks.
Here are some more interesting tidbits from this thread:
Below are some OC results using this motherboard with a Q6600 and E6750. I recommend that you make sure that your northbridge chips is below 47C before OC'ing. Also, as with any OC, you do so at your own risk. Please make sure you have proper cooling for N/s bridge chipsets as well as ram, CPU, etc before you OC.

-Yes, this board can handle 4 Gigs of PC8500. However, OC'ing maybe limited. Appears that newer bios address this.
-Those upgrading from a MB with limited bios tweaking (P5W DH for example) may find the tweaking settings in this bios daunting. Please review some of the OC settings listed above to get an idea of what needs tinkering and what doesn't. Also, if your CPU OC is not found it may be better to make a formal request for bios settings using your CPU then to frustrate yourself changing settings.
