    hi all !

i got really good times with f3h bios for X38T and really hard times with f7d + x38-ddr2.

on X38T for me green slots is good for 1600mhz and sharp timings and red slots for high mhz and f3h bios made this jump up a 100mhz on both.
strap 333 goes more easy on my mobo then 400 -500fsb only with strap 333.maybe letters are wrong.

with X38 ddr2 i got bad times from start and it got worse with new bioses.
now i only can run 1:1 + 5:6 others dont boot. release bios was best for me.

i changed to giga after two long(6 months rma) with asus.

i think in this times you need a lot of luck to get good mobo.
i got two ds4 in one month and same batch from same shop and one likes my crucial and one not??but second is good with adata.

i hope you guys have more luck with your mobos.

basco what memory you using ?

Swapped to 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 memory and seems to be the best memory so far for X38-DQ6

Decided to do some single and quad Super Pi 32M tests at QX9770 speeds of 8x400FSB = 3200Mhz at stock vcore in bios

Straight boot from bios. Seems for 2.66C (3:4) divider, cpuz v1.42 and memset as well as coretemp 0.9.5.6 don't seem to recognise the divider and memory clocks properly. Only app that does is Everest Ultimate

    Now quad Super Pi 32M

EVA: that's pretty good for 3200 mhz...the 32M superPI results is what i get for 3960 mhz on my Q6600.

EVA do you have the same behavior when booting with default multi?
for me multi x9 on q6600 every tool recognise correct.but not with lower multi.
in spi-is this the bigger cache so fast?

Eva, now when you have the X38-DQ6, it is said to run well with 2*1GB mem, but please, but noone pull off 4*1GB with Ballistix 8500. Can you make it? The formula can, Loc.o showed me:

back on topic i need bios that are NOT flaky and WILL run the new q9650 on gigabyte x38 ddr2 version mobo..anyone?

no probs on 9x or 10x either it's when selecting 3:4 divider that this occurs mainly where cpuz can't read properly.. memset incorrect reporting occurs on other dividers too though

Right now it's probabl best to stick with F5H or even F3 available on the Gigabyte download page for this motherboard.

Well i just bought this X38-DQ6 mobo... and i can say it is a pretty good expirience in overclocking compared to my old AMD system... (this is my 1st Intel system... ever)

    Now i have some issues:

1)The mobo came with the F4 BIOS, so should i flash to some other version?

2)I have 2 PCi cards, a 56k modem, and SB Live, now the problem is that when i restart the computer the modem gets lost, but when i shut down and boot again the modem is listed in the hardware devices again...

3)I'm having some problems with the memory dividers...
    i get this in BIOS:
    x.xxA
    x.xxB
    x.xxC
    x.xxD

and basically the only ones that work are 4.0A,3.0A... anything other and the system won't boot, now i'm probably doing something wrong there so any help would be appreciated...

4)Windows, CoreTemp and some other tools keep reading my CPU speed wrong. if i set it to 320x10 then windows read i as 3.53Ghz, what's up with that?

Well, if anyone can give me some hints
Oh, and since i'm new to DDR2 also, are the timings in the pic. OK? i have the Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400С4 kit...
    Thanx,

OK, i managed to get my clocks up a bit... but i have 1 small problem...

In the attached pic. i found one latency i can't seem to change in the BIOS, and i have to run MemSet every time because the mobo sets this to 24... and i tested it at 14... so if anyone knows what BIOS setting changes this it would really help a lot...

Also, coming from AMD procesors working mostly up to 50 - 54°C i'm a bit worried about my temps... my TT Big Typhon keeps the CPU at about 65°C under load (3.4Ghz) , so is that OK, or should i keep the temps under 58°C??

    Thanx

First time I ever see you using Gigabyte board eva2000, IIRC you always were a Asus user. That says something about this X38 Giga board.

I'm trying to fit Thermalright Ultra 120 cooler to my Gigabyte X38 DQ6 board but the copper backplate mounted under the CPU area is very much in the way. Can this be taken off and not affect the top heatpipe solutions?

hey guys. I got a problem here with my X38-DQ6/P35-DS4 & a Logitech G15 gaming Keyboard (series 1) with flip lcd)...

Used to work fine & then one day it stopped.. Now I have tried reinstalling XP & all the usual but I canntot get the G15 to play nice with my P35-ds4 & x38-dq6...

Every time I plug the k/board in, it comes up as "unknown devie" in my device manager...

I am at a loss as what to do. I took the keyboard back for RA & the tech there pluuuged in to an Asus mobo & it worked fine...

WTF??? I am real peeved at this dilemma...

Any tips or anyone else has had this experience??
    Cheers,
    Minh
