Here is 20,601 in 3DMark06. I've got my cards both running at 860/2600. My video card flash wasn't as successful as I first thought because I can't break 860Mhz on either card, even though under load I'm only hitting 32C.
I'm also very happy with my pair of HD3870 and rig as a whole!
I've been quiet couple of days because of problems with my PSU....
But thanks to my friend HPN I've connected 2 PSUs to my RIG and voila!!
Here is what it can do without sweating![]()
New AMD WR!!!!
ORB
Cards are quite stable @those clocks! Oh, and that run was on stock coolers, just pushed to 55%
PS. I want higher voltages on memories....

Just to compare 2900xt crossfire 850\950 moded bios on vista. 3870 is faster in games but not 3dmarkBut for the price you cant beat it

how did you manage to get it stable at the higher clocks avid??????
just interested m8...
I was using CCC Overdrive to overclock previously. I was able to clock higher with RivaTuner. The only problem I see with Rivatuner is that it overclocks both cards to the same speed...I can clock the cards independently. If I could I'd be able to make some more adjustments.
Overclock the cards isn't yielding large jumps in 3DMark...it seems as if 3DMark at the default resolution isn't enough to push the cards. That is why I did a run at 1600x1200...there wasn't a very large drop in performance.
quick question. is there any way to control the fan speeds of both cards? riva won't allow it.

Ridiculous yes, but thanks for the tip man. The one card hits 90C at load, while the other never hits 60C. I'm starting to think that the fanspeed control is broken in the bios for these cards. at 70% the i card idles at 39C.
EDIT: You are a savior man. You have no idea how much googling I did to find a solution.
You're kidding right?

Just an update on my 3870 CrossFire setup. Finally broke 21K in 3DMark06 - 21,024.
Q6600 @ 4.05Ghz (450x9)
Crucial Ballistix DDRII 800 @ 900 4-4-4-12
2 x Sapphire Radeon 3870's - 930/2700 (Water Cooled - idle 28/29, load 32/33)
Hey guys. I am getting 11k in 3dmark06 with stock clocks on my 3870s. Is this good?
Here are my specs....
Abit AT832X (3200 Express)
3800 X2 @ 2.8 Ghz (311x9)
2 Gigs G.Skill DDR500 @ 512Mhz
WinXP Sp2. Ill post a screenie when I get home from work.
My X2 holding me back that much? I am running Catalyst 7.11 with Xfire enabled.
Thoughts?
your score might be a little low, but it's probably about where it should be with that CPU. i have an Intel E6320 @ 2.8 with two 3870's in CF and i scored 13,400 on my single 3DMark06 run.
the good news is that real-life gaming will be good. 3DM06 gives a huge boost to quad cores, but very few games do. so if you're more interested in real world performance than benchmark scores, you're fine.

Anyone have issues with CCC and the latest catalyst 7.11 working? I had to use CCC from the 3870 driver CD and the 7.11 drivers to get CCC to work with the latest drivers.
Im also a little dissapointed that Xfire support in Crysis isnt there yet. All i wanted to do is OC these cards to a zillion mhz core/mem and play crysis @ 1080P till my eyes fell out of my head. So infuriating.
no, i'm running CrossFire for that score. i haven't run it with a single card. to answer your earlier post, most of us are running the 7.11 driver with the 7.11 CCC and not having any problems at all. CrossFire does support Crysis, you just have to use the Crysis Hotfix until the 7.12 driver comes out and officially supports it. my CF performance in Crysis is fantastic.

this was a quick bench i did before i was able to get my duorbs so the gpu clocks were low.
they were 840mhz core 1243mhz mem...
with duorb i can now bench 885mhz core 1321mhz mem...
havnt done a propper run over 4gig on the quad and new gpu clocks but i'm looking forwards to it...![]()
you guys with quad cores are getting insane 3DMarks with these 3870's. very impressive. have you checked to see if 885/1321 is game stable? i've found that i can run 3DMark with very high clocks, but some of my games will crash after 10 minutes of running time if i push my clocks too high.

Even with Hotfix, if you run Crysis you only get 1 card at full load. I don't think CF is working for Crysis just yet.

Could you run the test with 1280x1024@High settings?
I really just can't wait to see that results because i want to know if it's worth my money upgrading to two of those cards and a new mainboard.

i can play unreal tournament for hours with no problems. but quake wars will crash instantly as soon as i drop into a map. so i have to use 800mhz core clock to solve this.
crysis seems to like the higher clocks...
i'll do the 1280x1024 bench
steller performance at that rez(1280x1024)..... still had the flickering textures but i wasnt useing the crysis hofix driver. i used ccc7.11 package.
all settings on high... the gpu bench ran at 34fps due to the driver.
the cpu bench gives a far better example of what this cards performance is with this game...
