    PCIe x1 bug...the plot thickens.

Most people are probably aware of the PCIe x1 bug on a few mobos out there (currently the P35 lineup from Gigabyte seems to have the most problems). As a DS4 owner, I'm one of the suffering users. No matter what I have tried, I cannot set my FSB above 410MHz without loosing my x16 PCIe speed.

The interesting this is, along the way, I've noticed more irregularities when the speed drops. For one, onboard audio playback is very choppy whever doing anything else (for instance, scrolling a webpage or opening another program).

The new one I just noticed is very strange temprature fluctuations on the CPU:

Can anyone explain this? Has anyone else seen this occur?

I think that the PCIe speed drop is one of many symptoms signaling a problem of greater scale. Maybe that's obvious to some, but it being labled as a PCIe x1 bug is misleading to me...that does not seem to be the cause, just an effect.

What is PCI-E overvoltage set in bios? I had this 1x bug also when fsb was over 410. I set PCI-E +0.05 and after that it was back to 16x. This is with DS4 rev 1.0 and bios F6.

    PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

When I said that my the bug occurred regardless of voltage, I was refering to medium to high voltage settings (+.20 to +.35). What I did not try was normal/low voltages....it worked (now running +.10)!!! It's booting every time without the bug now at 456MHz FSB. All I had to do was leave the voltages alone, maintaining the settings I used for 400MHz FSB.

Someone in the giga thread stated that increasing certain voltages would cause the 1x problem..However I cant confirm this. Glad your up and running

i too run .1 on pcie, no prob. however, i never could run over 500fsb stable while setting fsb freq to either 108 or 110. now i left pcie freq at auto, and has been rock solid for over a week at 510x7.

anyone know if there's a utility for p35 to show pcie freq? auto has me scared it's at like 120 or something. it'd be nice if intel came out with utility like ntune from nvidia to show all that stuff

I think this is happening to me too. I have a gigabyte p35c and an 8800gt.
The x3210 is clocked at 440 (3520mhz) and sometimes i feel like my fps drops all of a sudden.
Anyway to find out of it's running at 1x?

Download cpu-z and check from "Mainboard" if it's 16x or 1x.

    That's how I've been checking.

does this sound familiar to anyone ???

    http://forum.uabit.com/showpost.php?...2&postcount=24

    Graphics:

I am having something very odd happen on my Abit IX38 QuadGT.

If I use the nVidia drivers that came with the Gigabyte 8800GT the PCI-Express bus speed shows as 0x in the nvidia control System info panel, everything works, but my 3d06 score is 7594 (Way low I should be breaking the 10K) but games actually run.

If I load the latest nvidia drivers (including the Beta ones) it shows the X16 PCI-Express bus speed:

But I can not run 3Dmark 06 (it hangs on black screen) and if I play a game (Bioshock) I only get as far as the intro , i.e the plane crash, with slow juttery FPS then it crashes and reboots.

On recommendations elsewhere, I have removed the additional 2 dimms to just run 2Gig of RAM, I have flashed the BIOS, I have tweaked what I can in the BIOS but nothing seems to work.
All of this is at Stock everything by the way, I have just abandoned overclocking for now, I just want it all to work at stock first.

I am at the end of my teather, you think your getting somewhere then you take 4 paces back...I might RMA my Mobo today, I've Had enough.:frown:

My buddy and I bought the Quad GT in Akihabara a week and a half ago, and we were not impressed...lots of weird bugs...although we never saw what you have experianced. That being said, we only loaded XP.
