Great pics, glad to hear it! The plyer stretching really works well with Masterkleer. The nice thing is, the oversised barb really holds the tubing on well too.

Funny thing about those elbows.
THey are the exact elbows I use in my rig. Everyone seems to think that they are restrictive.

You are soldering the pipe in correct?
I would clear coat them to prevent them from looking brown in a couple of months.

jaguarking11, nice copper setup, that's very nice work thereRather than clearcoating, after a hot interior scrub with soapy water, I finalize the polishing with an automotive polish. This should help minimize oxidation to the polished copper surface, but clearcoating has been considered. Yes the fitting are all sweat soldered, after sweating as many fittings as I have, I think I have this down to a fine science in preparation, fluxing, heating, and solder application. I also clean up the exterior when I'm done and remove any excess solder by sanding and polishing with a buffer. I also reject any fittings where I've had an excess of solder run down the internal fitting, so the end result is just enough soldering to completely cover the joint..no more.
The curves were developed with physical water manometers which are nicely sensetive to this sort of pressure drop testing. Unfortunately I retired my test setup because it was a large outdoor test rig and it's been snowing around here.
Fortunately, what I made in this project will be invested in a digital manometer and flow rate meter, so expect some more pressure drop testing stuff from me in the futureI've got my fuzion with the D-tek nozzles sitting here waiting to be tested along with some of my own experiments. I'll also get a chance to test some other fitting combinations along with the soon to be released "Sister of All Elbows"....the standard 1/2" barbed variety.

Yes I did. Not only did I order one on ebay which is here now(my spare), I also found a very small local electrician that carried one locally a couple of days later.
Wired up the new cap with my much improved heavy guage power feed, and it fired right up and works perfectly!
My mill/lathe combo has become my new favorite toy/tool. I think it even beats out the brad nailer![]()

Ok, I think I finally made it through the list of the Big bore 5/8" barbed mother of all elbows. Havn't heard back from everyone, but most of the elbows and Ts are done and shipped.
Just got my brass barb order for some 3/8" or 7/16" compatible options.
But of coarse, a stock brass commercial barb just won't do...first thing to do is put it in the lathe...![]()

Again the barbed end, but left is the bored out and chamfered version, right is stock. The ID is about 9.95mm, most high flow barbs run about 10.0mm ID.

A little sweat soldering, and polishing later...the 3/8" mother of all elbows is born..
And on some tubing, all I had for 3/8" was this 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD, but 5/8" OD tubing would of coarse look much thicker. It goes on fairly easily actually. The OD of the barbs is .447, so it's actually much easier to get 3/8" tubing on these than it would a normal 1/2" barb.
And some 7/16" ID x 5/8" OD tubing...goes on really easy, but still a snug fit, would recommend clamping though.
The barbs are specified as 1/2" meant for 1/2" hose, but I think they are just a little too loose for my taste on full 1/2" ID tubing, you'd definately want some good clamps with them, but they work really well for 3/8" or 7/16" ID tubing.
Anyhow, off to making a few for those of you that were interested in a 3/8" compatible version...

Hmmm...have to look into that. My wife will eventually want me to finish that kitchen cabinet construction project..All made from scratch out of Hickory, but I havn't really done much with the exotic woods. The woodshop side of the garage has been collecting copper chips lately...

Not these particular ones, they are soldered into place. I could make some with G 1/4 threaded ends though and you could put whatever barbs you wanted on there.. Similar to this, but threaded on both ends.

Great, I might be in line for 2... Need to install the WC gear in the case first to see if there a issue with the radiator tubing. Or a T with a G1/4" thread and 2 3/8" barbs for me to put a temp sensor.
