Man, I have done that already... Still lock on DET DRAM.
I have also tried some value 533Mhz ram, because I thought my 2.4V Corsair RAM wasn't making it into deefault 1.8V, after the BIOS update...

I'll take a pic and post it up here at the same time as sorting out the Bios for Devilhood, gimme 30mins. It's a proper ghetto mod, so you'll be impressed!

    EDIT:

Bios 0802 has so far allowed me to get 10MHz more from the FSB with this Quad. Every other bios crapped out @ 450MHz with the Anandtech settings, 0802 is happily running OCCT 1.2b RAM test right now! Using these settings:

    450FSB Quad-Core BIOS Settings
    CPU Feature
    Ai Overclock Tuner [Manual]
OC From CPU Level Up [Auto]
    CPU Ratio Control [Manual]
    Ratio CMOS Setting: [8]
    FSB Frequency [450]
FSB Strap to North Bridge [Auto] (Defaults to 400MHz Strap)
    PCIE Frequency [110]
    DRAM Settings
    DRAM Frequency [Auto]
    DRAM Command Rate [2T]
    DRAM Timing Control [Manual]
    CAS# Latency [5]

    RAS# Precharge [5]
    RAS# Active Time [12]
    RAS# To Ras# Delay [3]
    Row Refresh Cycle Time [42]

    Read To Precharge Time [3]

    Write To Read Delay(S) [3]
    Write To Read Delay(D) [5]
    Read To Read Delay(S) [4]
    Read To Read Delay(D) [6]
    Write To Write Delay(S) [4]
    Write To Write Delay(D) [6]
    DRAM Static Read Control [Disabled]
    Ai Clock Twister [Strong]
    Transaction Booster [Enabled]
    Boost Level [0]
    Voltage Settings
CPU Voltage [Set what you need here...]
    CPU PLL Voltage [Auto]
    North Bridge Voltage [1.61v]
    DRAM Voltage [2.16v]
    FSB Termination Voltage [1.54v]
    South Bridge Voltage [Auto]

DDR2 Channel B REF Voltage [Auto]
    DDR2 Controller REF Voltage [DDR2_REF]

The best thing is the performance hasn't dropped one single bit, if anything it's improved at the same clocks!

Take out all but 1 stick of ram, and then clear the CMOS and try to boot. You might find that more than 1 stick is too much for the default vDimm of 1.8v (or is it 1.9v?)?

Right, here are my 2x80mm fans...proper bodge job this, but it works for now. I'll fashion a bracket of some sort soon...

It's sitting on an old Abit Serialle SATA converter to lift it up and it's wedged under the molex for the DVDRW...

    It works...

that's happened to me a couple times. i just turn off the PSU and hold the clear cmos button for awhile and then it boots fine. i go right into bios and change what needs to be changed.

    My System:
    Intel QX9650 (OEM)
    Asus Maximus Formula SE (Modified)
Removed all stock heatsinks (what a pain)
SB: is a tall pure copper heatsink, with pins removed as needed to fit in cards

So that gets me 4060MHz in BIOS or 4040MHz in Windows, and a a memory clock of 1077MHz at CAS5. I stopped at 4GHZ on the CPU as anything more as not prime95 stable at this voltage (although at this voltage it could finish Super Prime at up to 4.3GHz) and I was unwilling to go any higher on the Voltages for 24x7 use.

X48 on DDR3 should hit shelves aong w/ Penryn release early next year.

I think that rev 2 of the MAXIMUS FORMULA may either be a DDR3 or X48 version. Who's heard anything about this other then from Clunks living review?
Dunno about Asus' X48 plans, so you might be right that they'll only produce DDR3's, but still that's only speculation..

Gigabyte however starts retailing their DDR2 GA-X48-DQ6 in Germany & Austria this week..

So far I have been able to the e6850 up to 4.140 (9x460). I have't tried for max FSB yet, but I'll probably give that try tonight.

If I go higher like to a 470 FSB with the 9x, I get a BSOD so I think it has to with the RAM and straps. Any ideas or thoughts?

Bios 0802 has now given me 465MHz OCCT 1.2b RAM stable. Same settings and voltages as posted above. On previous bios' this was maxing @ 450MHz!

I'm a fan of this new bios!

EDIT: And i don't have the temp bugs with it, Cores are reading correctly, as always and the "CPU" temp in Everest or PC Probe is now reading correctly again (as opposed to 0701/2)!

Everest Ultimate 4.20.1170. Been working well for me. Same Everest version since I got the board, so it can't be Everest midreading, it's the output the bios gives that Everest reads for the "CPU" temp, and then it reads the cores directly for the Individual Core Temps.

I'm guessing the small fan at the bottom is blowing onto the mobo, but the large fan on the memory is pulling air off?? Or is it blowing onto it too?

Anandtech settings for 450MHz got me to 465MHz OCCT 1.2b RAM stable with the 0802 bios. I then encounter then usual inability to go a single MHz more regardless of what voltages I use...

Guys, what volts would I increase to keep stabilty with my FSB and and allow me to lower my vCore a touch? I used to be 3.825GHz stable with 1.48v but this board demands 1.53v, which I can only assume is due to the various other voltages it allows me to play with?

The small fan is blowing across the back of my 8800GT. It gets hot man without airflow. It also blows down onto the fins of the NB heatsink. The large fan blows down onto the memory slots. In my armor i have 2x120mm in the front iCages blowing in, the 120mm and the 80mm blowing down onto the board, then an 80mm and a 92mm blowing out the back. Then to finish it off, my Rad is top mounted with 2 FM121's and that draws any warm air out the top of the case. Does this raise my water temp a bit? Yes. Does it really matter? No, it's only a 1-2°C difference. Is my PC loud when on? OMG yes! But i use headphones so it doesn't really matter.

Rengade, just curious. What is the VID of your E6850 in CoreTemp? I've got one sitting here with a VID of 1.350v, which is literally as high as it can go before Intel would have rebinned it as a lower spec chip... Are all E6850 chips like this? My Quad 'g0' has a VID of only 1.2375v...

0802 is just a finalized version of 0701
0701 was a pretest beta release.

its basically the same bios with a few fixes
and im surprised your not getting the same temp issue as in 0701, I still have it with 0802
