@ safan80, It's not looking like X48 mobos are gonna be DDR2, (points to DDR3 only) even if the chipset might or can support it. So for us on this mobo w/ X38, looks liek it's gonna' be the best overall stepping stone to X48 on DDR3 and hopefully, ICH10R by summer. X48 on DDR3 should hit shelves aong w/ Penryn release early next year.

I can't see any reason really other then better chipset power usage (lower watts, less heat , so more room to OC, but nothing exciting w/ todays quads unles using good DDR1800. With BIOS fixes coming, X38 will at least pass up P35 in terms of DDR2 overclockability. As DDR2 nears its end, we may see better performing DDR1200 to get us through the middle or end of next year.

I think that rev 2 of the MAXIMUS FORMULA may either be a DDR3 or X48 version. Who's heard anything about this other then from Clunks living review?

He said the only changes were to the heatsinks to help make it more stable. I asked him why they were the only people with a V2 board and he never answered... Bit dodgy that!!!

Dunno about Asus' X48 plans, so you might be right that they'll only produce DDR3's, but still that's only speculation..

Gigabyte however starts retailing their DDR2 GA-X48-DQ6 in Germany & Austria this week..
