3870 available and cheaper then expected

Looks like newegg is selling the 3870 for $219.. while selling the 3850 for $179.99. Lets hope this turns into a price war with other online sellers. However, we should applaud ATI for a hard launch, something I don't recall seeing for sometime.

With 29 left at the 'egg, it looks like the 3870 is not going to be available there in an hour. Very competitive pricing though.

I was going to bite, but for $25 more I can get the $250 PNY 8800GT @ amazon.com.

They sure did sell out fast though. So much for large inventories full of them.

Wow those 3850 prices are hard to resist for a mid-range buyer right now. Talk about great price and performance vs. the 8600GTS which is like $10 less.

Yep, I think the 3850 is the better positioned marketed card.

wowza. Great time to be in the market for a new video card...Too bad I'm not. It would rock if this would push them to put the "old" 8800 GTS's on clearance so i might could get cheap SLI.

46 Diamond 3850s left...let's see how long they last. Seem to be going slower than the 3870s at any rate.

They seem to have more 3850s out there to begin with. It was 48 about 5 mins ago so they're definitely being picked up

I'm going to be really mad if this turns out to be another 8800GT where you can't find the dam things... And when you do they're $30 over MSRP.

Yep, the 3870s sold out fast. Luckily, I got my order in before they did.

If I had $$$ I could get a 3870 for cheaper than my card cost new and it outperforms it... sounds good.

Now we get to see if the claim that there won't be the stock issue the 8800GT has is going to be true or not. Will more come back in stock in the near future or will they be OOS forever?

Well, sure they are $30 more, as long as people can pay $30 more they will keep the prices up.

They make some nice profit by overpricing them, and STILL they get sold out within few hours.

I have it on VERY good authority that retailers will be receiving regular shipments of these cards. Even though they are sold out in some places for now, stock should be replenished soon.

UK pricing doesn't look that bad either. 3850 from £115 and 3870 from £155. I would be more tempted by the 3850 if only it had 512MB. I'd prefer to keep it single slot although I haven't heard anything on noise level comparisions between the coolers so that could probably sway me.
<eMesreveR>Do "girls" ever appear outside the Internet? Can i randomly encounter them?
<Aleph-One>I believe they are a fabrication. Most of the evidence would suggest that they were created in a studio during the Cold War to display our industrial superiority over the Soviet Union.

Yea but I'd hope ATI is smart enough to know that if it's priced anywhere near the 8800GT it Won't sell. People will wait for the GT to come in stock.
