    yea i say ewiz's for 60+8 shipping
but clubit has them for 66+5shipping and it says m0 as the core stepping
edit: there is a microcenter an hour away from me, i might be making a trip tommorrow, lol

I just got E2140 M0 yesterday. Upgrade or maybe I would say downgrade from Pent D 930 3.0Ghz.

On stock speed, I can noticed that idle temp dropped 5C and load dropped 10C. I tried to boot with FSB400@3.2 but Windows wouldn't load. Raised up voltage and managed to get into Windows but my rig restarts itself. I guess this chip needs more voltage at 3.2G.

Stock voltage is 1.325V. Not sure whether its a good chip or not. Now priming at FSB 350@2.8G stock voltage. Mainboard voltage is stock too. I tried 3.0Ghz at stock voltage but can't prime. Maybe voltage tweak is needed.

I also noticed my PSU is less stressed by E2140. My 12V remains stable. I guess my PSU is little weak for overclocking. I can also used Core Temp now. I notice that CPU temp and Core 0/1 temp's difference is around 5C. Is this normal. Here's my load temp now at stock voltage 2.8G.

    CPU : 54C
    Core 0: 45C
    Core 1: 45C

I wonder which is the correct CPU temp.

I also got the same thing. CPU temp is at least 5C hotter than core temp. Not sure which is the correct one.

I'm not sure if its still like this or not, but there are 2 SKU's for the E2140. The one labeled as having the Manufacturer as Intel is the L2, while the IPSG (relabeled or OEM usually) is an M0 retail box. Guess where which one i got

After testing for about one day I found out that my E2140 had an fsb wall around 400mhz. I think the max overclock I can get is around 2.8Gz FSB360 with stock voltage. Anything over that requires extra voltage. Currently I'm testing at FSB 280 at 3.0Ghz. Vcore is 1.40. Do you guys think it's worth getting extra 200mhz at 1.4V? My temps are below 65C for CPU and below 60 for the two cores at 1.4V. I guess I had a bad chip since most can get around 3Ghz at stock volts.

Got Thermalright Ultima-90, and now I can go 3.0GHZ with 58C Load (Dual Prime) , I plan on pushing it further when the thermal paste settles

your not alone buddy, my e2140 needs more volts to get stable at 3ghz. 1.38v to be exact, depending on ambient temp, core temps loaded are ~65c both cores.

i've tried going above 375fsb but everytime i do, it won't post no matter how much voltage i give it, plus i'm concerned about temps so i didn't go further on it. we'll see when i get back into watercooling though .

My core temps are ok but I think maybe I got bad chip. Not sure why these chips have FSB wall. Maybe Intel wants to limit their potential so higher end CPU sales will not be affected.

Anyway I'm priming at FSB380 at 1.4V BIOS now. Vdroop makes the vcore to 1.36V. Anyway I did a few testing and this Core architecture is fantastic. Compared to my Pent D, I got around 5 to 10fps increase in majority the the games. Need time to fine tune and I guess I'll stay at around 3Ghz.

My rig will automatically restart after few hours of priming. I'm not sure what is the cause. Prime doesn't fail but system automatically restarts. No blue screen too. Should I put NB, VTT, SB voltage to max?

try running OCCT instead of prime95/orthos.

imo cpu needs more volt, I had same problem a while ago..

thanks, ive tried it and system will auto restart within few minutes. Is it because of not enough Vcore or I've hit FSB wall? I've never experience auto system restart previously when overclocking my Pent D.

if you ran OCCT and the computer restarted itself while doing that, it means you need more volts. i had the same thing happen to me when i was running OCCT @ 375*8 stock volts. after i upped vcore a notch, ran it again and had a successful run with no restart.

yeah, i've never had a computer restart on me for be unstable while stress testing it's oc. it would just fail the stress test.

Thanks for the advice. Too bad, my chip is not a very good one. Cant even do 3Ghz at 1.4V. Will have to keep testing. Overclocking this things are nice but I hate the auto restart.

in some cases it might not be the chip's fault, other components contribute to overclocking, ie. motherboard, ram, psu and cooling. looking at your rig, both your ram and motherboard are good clockers, i didn't even know scythe made psu's so that might be was holding you back and i don't know what your using as cooling.

I'm using Scythe Ninja for Cooler. At 1.4V, core temp never gets over 60C. Actually my Scythe is a Topower built. My 12V rails never gets below 12V during load and Conroe doesnt take up much power so I think my PSU is ok. I've power usage tester and during load my rig takes up around 200W so I guess my PSU should be good enough for it. Well I'm not really lucky in getting good CPU but I have to agree to that my PSU is not very good.

your not alone buddy, my e2140 needs more volts to get stable at 3ghz. 1.38v to be exact, depending on ambient temp, core temps loaded are ~65c both cores.

i've tried going above 375fsb but everytime i do, it won't post no matter how much voltage i give it, plus i'm concerned about temps so i didn't go further on it. we'll see when i get back into watercooling though .
yeah same thing here... i cant go any higher than 2.8ghz (350mz fsb) and i really wanna get 3.2ghz outa this cpu... so badly. my computer wont even post if u put something higher than 1300fsb. i have cheap "Team" DDR2 800mhz and i want to keep the memory running at that same speed to achieve a 1:1 cpu-mem relation.
so.. in the previus page ya can see my bios settings.. what can i do to get 3.2ghz outta this? at least to make it post -_-

i havent tested this yet, but this is the most i can get...
again i have a msi p6n sli (nforce 650 chipset) and 1 stick of Team Value ddr2 800mhz.

both of you guys, i would try playing around with chipset voltages. i wanted 3.2ghz too but settled for 3ghz

Ive tried with max voltage for VTT,NB Core and SB. Too bad I can't even get it stable with stock CPU voltage at FSB345. I guess I had a bad chip. FSB400 is impossible because Ive maxed out Vcore. Even 1.4V at FSB375 is impossible. System will auto restart when doing OCCT. I guess I got a bad chip because I know my board and RAM can clock higher. Anyway it's cheap and I guess I have to wait for Wolfdale.
