701 is definitely reporting hotter than the other bioses, but that does NOT mean that it is wrong... Running SETI my hottest core is 52C (Q6600 G0) when i run small FFT's hottest core is ~57C. I'm at 1.55v in bios at 3710Mhz.

    I'm running 3.6 @ 9*400 with 1.400V VCore load during Prime95 (according to CPU-Z and PCProbe)
My load temps are 51 52 52 55 right now. I'm using Everest to monitor temps.

All people able to run higher than 400 FSB:
What BIOS settings are you using? I can't get mine higher than 400.....I was running this chip at 450*8 on my P5K Deluxe....I still have plenty of headroom to go past 3.6......

^^^ my dominators has been doing very wel as well, try 533 @ 2.1 volts with 5-5-5-15 and if that works, try other CAS latencies or higher bus

only reason i'm doubting it...as some other members are as well, is becuase the difference in temp for the same OC profile is too great!

My OC profile was always 400x9 but in 0505 the core temps were in the mid 40's and just by flashing the bios and resetting up the same exact OC profile ramped the temps up to low to mid 60's. There are guys with 470+ fbs on air cooling with lower temps than me. I know thermaltake isn't that great for water cooling, but it should suck this bad

Tested with 3 pairs of memory and OCZ PC2 8000 Titanium Alpha VX2 went 520mhz 4-4-4-12 settings, my old cors CM2X512-5400UL 500mhz 4-4-4-12 and Transend aXeRAM 800+ 550mhz with 4-4-4-12 settings, last one not memtest stable, but superpi 1M stable.
Haven't even tried loosen those settings, but maybe later that

I tried others, but the system won't even post. No matter how fast or slow they are.

I'm running an FSB strap of 400 with DDR2-1066 5-5-5-15 at FSB=400. You could try that....should be the same with your RAM. We both have D9GMH ICs....
Make sure you have enough NBV.....this mobo requires a lot.

The reason for crash is DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Is this possibly related to the BIOS EHCI Hand-off feature? or a hardware conflict of some kind?
Try running a chkdsk /r on the drive, that has fixed that error before for me.

When you power a Maximus on for the first time, what will your RAM voltage be set to. I have 1.8v RAM and don't want to fry it on initial power up...

Once I get control of the bios, I should probably set it to 1.7v with the ram over-volt issue?

    Thanks

It defaults to 1.8V. I was having issues with my 2.2V RAM not POSTing, so I had to buy some cheap stuff to POST.

    Thanks for the reply's!!

I kept seeing most everybody's ram voltage set higher than 1.8v, I just figured the default was higher....

    Hi welcome to the forum

I have the identical ram and I could get it up to 1066 but it wouldn't go any further.

Make sure you a on a low CPU multi try 7X then set the strap to either 333 or 400.

Set the RAM voltage to 2.1v as the board over volts, set the timings to

5-5-5-18 and leave the rest on Auto. That should see you on the right track.

    Voltage problems

A few days ago I received my Asus Maximus Formula SE. I have a problem though. I started OC'ing on auto-voltage till I reached the max. When I'm trying to raise the CPU voltage the problem begins. When I set the voltage from AUTO to the same voltage but then manual (1,3375 V) the pc won't start. Only when I raise the voltage higher (1,43V) the pc starts. My CPU-Z shows a voltage of 1,18 then. No matter how much I raise the voltage now, it stays at around 1,2. Any have a sollution for this problem??

    Thanks

The latest BIOS makes CPU-z show a false value.

OCing at Auto allows the board to adjust volts for you...so even though you may have a low Vcore or w/e it will adjust other voltages to compensate.

This is not an easy board to OC past about 400 FSB. After that point you will need to read and absorb and act on the info in this thread...

Ok, so far I have managed to get my system totally Prime stable with 4-4-4-10-5 timings at 378x9 with the 400 FSB to NB Strap. I'm aiming for the 3.4GHz mark instead of 3.6, because it allows for much more stable 24/7 usage with Air cooling. I don't want Crysis BSOD'ing on me :P
I started with 1.31v on the CPU and made my way up to 1.35v until Prime finally stabalized.
The FSB Termination and NB voltages extremely low though, so things are looking good.

I'd go for 3.6GHz if I wasn't working with the 0701 BIOS though, the temp increases are making me very paranoid.
I'm going to try tweak latencies even tighter because it still feels like I have quite a lot of headroom with the RAM; but seriously, it's pretty mind boggling how this board reacts to slight changes in the BIOS, kinda like prodding someone on shrooms.

A list of my BIOS settings will be posted as soon as I am 100% happy with the setup.

Testing those sweespot settings again now. Bios 0701. Will report back later as to whether it crashes or not. I can use above 1.55v bios, but then I get the LOAD BUG and it's not worth the drop in Folding performance....

And it just crashed! It likes to do this as I'm typing up my results... :P

    Thanks
Don't OC on Auto voltages. Make sure you're also adjusting the NB and FSB Termination voltages too, they don't need to be that much higher than stock for it to POST above 350+ FSB, Stick to using 1:1 and 3:4 dividers only if you want good latencies.

Ok, I have been fiddling with settings but my noobness to overclocking is getting the better of me.

What sort of max overclock realistically should I be expecting from my C2D E6550 2.33ghz FSB1333 and my Kingston 800mhz mem? I have set my Mem to 1.9v as the max is 2.0v to cover the overvolting. See sig for full rig details...

I have it currently running stable at 2.8ghz (400 fsb) and 800mhz mem. Anything higher than about 405 fsb and XP gives a BSOD on bootup??

I have pushed my 8800gts up to 600/1035 and have broke the 10k barrier on 3DMark06 but everyone else seems to be getting alot higher??
