check the asus folder in the start menu... i just uninstalled mine (the asus program in add/remove programs) and the only thing i notice is that my temps have risen about 4+ degrees. also, something is wrong with the 'UPS' and i'm getting the little power cord thing in the system tray. i'll most likely be installing it back in there.

There is No Uninstaller program for the EPU, There are uninstallers for AI Suite, Probe II, and ASUS Updater

Well I've never installed any of the Asus drivers except the SupremeFXII and Ethernet and I still get the issues, so it's not the EPU driver.

I installed generic Intel Chipset drivers, and I've not installed ANY Asus software. i use Everest and CoreTemp for voltages, CPU-Z for clock speed monitoring and BIOS for adjustments...

scratch what i said about the temps... didn't relize it was hotter in the house then usual... as for uninstalling, i believe that it gets uninstalled with ai suite, just as it's installed alongside with it.

also, i've reinstalled it and the 'UPS' problem is gone so that leads me to believe that uninstalling ai suite does uninstall the epu driver. then again, i could just be confused. lol.

Same thing happens to me. Set my memory to 2.04 and in the BIOS it shows as 2.14 and also in ASUS Probe.

OCCT is being rewritten. It is mistaken about, because of that "30mn PC Stable" message. New releases will put the minimal test at 1h. And never forget, to be 100%, you'll need a few hours run like any other proggy.

In RAM mode, OCCT is much more sensible than Prime95 Blend

If only OCCT fails, just run it at stock. If it doesn't fail, you know the answer: The PC is tsable until you find a game/program that stresses the RAM/NB subsystem and you'll hang up. Also, if you have an unstable PC, each time you have bugs, you'll have to test without OC to rule out an unstability. So, it's better to run a rock stable config, rather than a so so stable
    Noted! Thanks Johnny!

I don't think it's the EPU driver either since I haven't installed any of the AI software either. Just Asus probe and the ethernet/sound drivers.

btw I tried the vDroop pencil mod.
    Results:
    Set value for vCore: 1.35
    vCore in BIOS: 1.336
    vCore in ASUS Probe: 1.34

    After mod:
    vCore in BIOS: 1.344

    No other settings/voltages were affected.

How many lines did you draw along the resistor? What is the resistance now? Was that the best result you could get from the mod? I was hoping to get it closer to 100% no droop in bios so only tiny droop when loaded, so with LoadLine enabled!

EDIT: Also, how does the mod scale with higher voltages? 1.55v for example? Without LoadLine enabled, we've been needing nearly 1.675v in bios to get 1.55v under load... Does the mod fix that too?

I believe it did?! Not sure.

The point of my post was just to show what happens when using the pencil mod on that resistor near the EPU.

On another note, I am RMAing my board again but this time I'm going to either switch to the non-SE OR to the Abit IX38 Quad GT.

The non-SE I can get immediately but the Abit I may have to wait. Not sure what to do.
The reason for the non-SE is just that I won't be using water cooling for a very long time, and I don't like the idea of the hot air build up inside the water block.

Well fellas i managed to finally get something out of this thing after weeks of messing around but it needed alot of volts to get it done.

    vcore-1.73
    PLL-2.2
    Ram-2.5
    north-1.7
    south-alot i forget
    Bios-505
pic Of my rig all on chilled water 10c
Tried these same setts a week ago and it would die on 3d mark cpu test. Why it decided to get it done now is beyond me my friends

Number of lines? I just took a 2B pencil and shaded the entire top of the resistor.

Resistance: To be honest, I'm not even sure if it is a resistor. I just know I've worked in manufacturing and it looks like one. I never tested the resistance and I don't have the equipment to do so unfortunately.

Haven't tested with higher voltages as I just wanted to get my board stable with 4 dimms and no overclock and that is not happening So I've given up for now. Until my RMA comes back.

Severance, you say the SB had "alot" of volts, did that make a big difference in stability?

Everyone so far seems to have overlooked the SB?

It gave me 455 to 460 fsb i believe. But remember guys I have good cooling.
Im sure my results would not be possible on air or even normal water. I had no problem running even faster on my X38-DQ6 with much less volts. Something very wierd with this mobo i can tell you that. This things like my commando fast and stupid.

Have you tried dialing any of the voltages down to see if all that is really required?

I started quite high and was able to reduce all the voltages a great amount and still pass the Marks at nearly 4 ghz. (3960)

Nice to see what is possible..but I don't see running volts like that for more than a few passes.

What settings are you gaming at?

I can run at 475 FSB NP...8X multi.

Yes i have tried. The thing is 4gig is very easy on this mobo. But once you get to 450fsb things change and volts are needed. 4gig for me is easy only vcore and dram voltages tweaked the rest on auto. For gaming i run 4gig 24\7 no issues at all. vcore 1.65, ram 2.3 prime stable for couple of hours cus i dont believe in prime or orthos. If this thing crashes once a month no big deal You say you can hit 475? hmm i stopped at 460 but maybe later this week i will try higher. The thing is it is such a pain to friggin switch display overclock 1 card switch back overclock the second card then run 3dmark praying the whole thing dont blow up in your face I will try my E6850 next.

Heres my 24x7 settings as shown by PCProbe II this is for 460 FSB on air cooling on chips and a frozen cpu...the CPU temp of 20c is inaccurate its actually sitting at -32 to -35c and an evap temps of -44c. I can drop a lot lower on the vCore obviously but i dont really worry about voltage as long as im frozen and my vCore is lower than 1.65.

@ SDumper: So it seems too me that you are getting your stability with the stiff FSBT voltage.

I'll try that. I had been leery or jacking the FSBT up so I've been slamming the NB and CPU instead...

S far I am having trouble Folding any faster than 8 x 450...
