Well, I have RMA'd my processor because its now causing the BSOD everytime I try to do anything other than standard? Surely I must have done something to it? Or have I just corrupted my XP install??

Ok, thanks. But why does the AI software cause a BSOD now, when it ran fine before I set it to 8x?

    USB hubs, lossing devices

I'm having a lot of issues where USB hubs (such as those on a monitor or a card reader) are losing devices (well actually just not finding devices), when this happens I need to reboot to get it to be detected. I'm not sure the cause, as these same devices were never lost on my old MB using the same layout. This leads me to believe that this is a MB issue, but I wanted to ask it anyone else has had a similar issue.
Also while the USB devices will work if detected on resume from hibernate, most often one or more are not detected.

Hi GAR, I'm with you there with the ram issues. This motherboard seems to be particulary finicky when it come to memory modules, I wonder if all x38 chipsets have the same issues. At the moment I've found a satifactory medium between performance and stability, but one below my expectations. I'll stick with it for a while to see if the bios matures enough, if not I'mm move on in about six months. I guess we are paying a price for being ealy adopters...

Oh that's all you did man? You don't have to RMA your CPU. Just boot into safe mode by pressing F8 and uninstall the AI suite, then delete the registry entries. You're getting BSODs because AI suite has written a registry key that changes the FSB via software.....even though it contradicts what the motherboard is reading off the microcode of the CPU. TBH I wouldn't even bother with AI except for fan control.

He he. I requested the RMA anyway and the new CPU arrived today before I even returned the old one!

Last night, I finally got my 2x 36gb Raptors working in RAID0 after many BSOD and head scratching moments. I now have XP Pro fully installed (using my new SP2 Slipstreamed disk thanks to Leeghoofd for the link) and fully updated. I didn't install the Asus AI software, just the latest Intel & LAN drivers downloaded of the Asus webby before I formatted. I will installe PC Probe later too.

I ran 3DMark06 and it came back with a score of 8713 (or thereabouts) with everything as standard.

Edit: Just to add, the new score was nearly 200 points better than the first time I ran it after a clean install a couple of days ago!!
