Seems like a quad will cause 2x the vdroop a dual core chip does on these boards. Makes sense double the cores, double the droop.

    Hi Everyone,

I'm having a really weird issue with my DS3R. I've always been able to run it the cpu (Q6600) @1.4v, with load it's 1.36v.

I went to do some benching today and the system locked up, went to check the voltages in the bios, and now 1.4=1.33 idle, and 1.31 load WTF is going on here? I've changed nothing to the system at all.

    1.45=1.38 under load it's 1.33

    I don't ing get it.

No i haven't. I'm running a 6750 @ 3.6ghz 24/7 without any huge vdrop. I've seen the reports about higher vdrop/vdroop on quads but after so many asus boards i'm used to it and believe me, that i prefer it to pci-e 1x prob any day...

How long do you have your combo running with 1.4v?

Overclock does degrade components. But Core 2 Duo/Quads, DDR2 and actual motherboards seem more sensitive than other hardware at the "old overclocking days".

Or you can simply have a motherboard now failing...

is there any known difference between the memory slots dimm1-3 VS dimm2-4?
in which can I run my memory at higher frequency, or with tighter timings?

I found this, in everest. Do you know what does it mean?

Is the PCI-E x1 problem a common problem with all gigbyte p35 mobos?
Im ready to pull the trigger on a p35-ds4 board but I may skip it if this is a major problem for this series of boards.Recieved a bad IP35-pro recently and im hesitant to get another one for fears of the same problem,So im hoping the DS4 will be a better buy

How many dimms are you using?

Where exactly is that information in Everest?

Finally it wasn´t a CPU or memo problem, it was my 8800GT which came with some GDDR3 chip broken and i have to underclock gram to 1700 or less to be able to play Crysis... damm i have to return it.

I could finally OC my E6400 over 3.5Ghz with a real 1.48 vore (around 1.525v in bios) on air... (around 62º full load)... the point is it managed to run at 3.2ghz with just 1.33v (1.37v in bios)...

Maybe is the temperature or so, i will try to atatch another fan to my Ultra120Ex.

My ballistix are now at CL4-4-4-15 and the other timings are set to default or auto . I have to RMA one of my Ballistix kits for sure

By the way, my system doesn´t post if I try over 460 fsb (I tried 470x7 and 470x6)... any idea? my vdimm is set at 3.2v ... maybe I have to set the timmings to CL5-5-5-15?

I'd say those Ballistix you have are much more capable than just 800MHz.
With 5-5-5-12 or 5-5-5-15 you should get higher frequencies.

How much vdimm you use on them?

Set the RAM divider to the lowest as possible to make sure RAM is not holding you back. You might need to raise FSB and MCH voltages too. Try that.

hehe... I wanted to say 2.2v... sorry sorry

Edit: i think i have a problem with my CPU FSB WALL... i am running memtest86 now with the ram@1050 without a problem, but if a try to set the fsb over 460 it won´t post!... so i am gessuing a FSB Wall, because with my ASUS P5W rev1.04 I had (i know they don´t reach high fsb clocks) i tried a few times to boot at 450Mhz fsb without a problem but not more.

So maybe its a problem from my CPU? no? or maybe the mobo? (i am using bios F6)...

Well, I can't go past 483 with my E6750, so I believe most CPUs do have a "wall". Some really good CPUs will go over 500+ FSB. But I think that's not so common.

I can go 7x500MHz with my E6300 but 510MHz wont boot (tested only mch +0.05 or something and fsb +0.05). I will test more when i get some better cooling in my cpu..

f7d for p35 ds3r is nice, dont have to hit ctrl-f1 to unlock memory timings anymore and it tells you the real voltages instead of safe and unsafe, and it also tells you the processor speed within the oc menu like 3600(9x400)
every one should use this bios!!

Can anyone confirm if the P35-DQ6 got the same treatment with the new F7b BIOs, as far as "sensor calibration", and voltages viewable in BIOs?

    Thank you.

Did you try to increase PCI-E voltage. My board need PCI-E +0.1V to be stable at "only" 400 FSB. I can boot but I need that to be Orthos stable

    Thank you.
F7b bios for DQ6 did not change anything in PC health status section, ie voltages still read pass/fail, hopefully when F7 final it will.

It did however do a nice job improving the MB tweaker section, looks just like the first pic by hstuehmeyer2000, including timings are visible without hitting CTRL F1.

Regarding voltage calibration, it is more accurate now.

On bios F6, I set voltage at 1.475, reads 1.44 CPUZ, for stable 3.9 overclock.

On bios F7b, I set voltage at 1.45625, reads 1.456 to 1.44 CPUZ, for stable 3.9 overclock.

    Just a heads up here...

I tried the F8F bios for my P35-DS4 rev1.0 board & it resulted in freezes at bios screen...

sometimes it would let me get into bios & then would freeze...

I was lucky enough to be able to have it not freeze for long enough to revert back to the F7 bios..

I did all the usual stuff for clearing CMOS etc after bios flash to no avail...

Anyone else have this problem>> Think it affexts the rev1.0/1,1 boards only...

Anyways. Use F8F on your P35-DS4 with care...

    Just my 2cents worth here...
    Cheers,
    Minh

I was lucky enough to be able to have it not freeze for long enough to revert back to the F7 bios..

I did all the usual stuff for clearing CMOS etc after bios flash to no avail...

Anyone else have this problem>> Think it affexts the rev1.0/1,1 boards only...

Anyways. Use F8F on your P35-DS4 with care...

    Just my 2cents worth here...
I had this F8F bios little time in my DS4 rev1.1 and i had no problems with
it.. Ill try it again today and see if it works ok.

Now i have F7 and fully stable with FSB 500. With 510MHz i get infinite boot loop. Nothing comes to screen and it starts all over again. More voltages do not help. Could this be mobo or cpu wall?
