K10 Folding@Home SMP Performance?

Does anyone have any numbers on how the quads will perform on Folding@Home SMP client? I know Tech Report posted a single core results a while back, but we never got any SMP results.

For those who have a Barcelona and would like to help, you can get a copy here. Just go to Windows SMP client. You need .NET in order to work. Just run install.bat and follow the instructions. Then just run fah.exe and you're set. We just need the project # and the time it takes to complete 1%, do a couple of % if you have time.

And normally people fold when they aren't using their computer, ie. during sleep, to put wasted CPU cycles to good use.

Folding@home is another use for computers. Don't know what his problem was, computers are used mostly for jobs anyway

The platform on which internet-based distributed computing applications originated? Yeah, right, Sony's main aim with the PS3 was obviously folding. I mean, games aren't very lucrative now, eh? Over 15 min per frame My Q6600 does them in just under 8 min, but that is at 3.5ghz. Still, not that impressive on K10.

Slow your Q6600 down to the same speed of 2GHz and then compare maybe? Clock for clock comparison.

Seems weird to me though, since my opteron is only about 6 minutes slower. Granted, 800MHz faster, but still you'd think with twice the cores... Or maybe I'm expecting too much?

The P2653 doesn't scale so well with quads like the P2610 and P2609. On a quad, those things are insanely fast. I'll clock my X3210 down to 2 Ghz to give me some idea of clock for clock performance between Barcelona and Kentsfield Quad. Granted there is a lot of variables by doing this, but it at least gives some idea of the results.

MD calculations scales with N^(3/2), where is is (roughly) number of atoms. That must be taken into account.

Anyway, Kyosen, could you please run F@H for a few second with the cores loads on screen? Just to see if it's properly scaling throw all clocks.

Edit: Sorry, just now noticed the power monitor. So now we must be sure that your job and XC4X4N job are the same.

Quick test on my X3210 @ 2Ghz. Memory speed isn't really a big thing with Folding last I heard, but I'll have to check up on that again. On the P2653, got about 13:15 per frame. So clock for clock, the Kentsfield is 2 min and 15 sec faster than Barcelona, based on Kyosen's result.

Just for comparison my X3210 @ 2.96 Ghz does the work in 9:50 and my other Q6600 @ 3.45 Ghz does the work in 8:15.
