my strategy was to get the car, rush through the level and not worry if i left an enemy standing. so long as no one was shooting at me I am OK.

my definition of run+gun is drive car up, unload a bit, leave car, sprint shoot point blank reenter car spray, repeat.
all the koreans need to know is that they're fighting a super soldier who runs faster than them and heals when left alone long enough. play crysis like painkiller or unreal tournament, not like half life.

all great ideas though, need to drown...

The fact that I've played through the demo (which is only the first 30-40 mins of gameplay) four times, and it hasn't played out the same way twice yet, is a testament to the diversity of the gameplay...
I generally use the same tactic (cloak, shoot, cloak, shoot, displace, repeat), but it never goes the same way twice... I love it...

Am I the only one who used a couple of run-throughs to learn to switch off cloaking before firing? Firing, or doing anything else than walking and grabbing, terminates your suit's power completely when you're stealthed... I found out the hard way

On a side note, I love how the game lets you play in whatever way fits your style. I love sneaking around, so I fully utilized stealth and silenced headshots throughout the level. I had full ammo the whole time. On the other hand, my brother and sister both ran through brute force and were constantly taking hits and running out of ammo and at times had to resort to their fists. Whatever works for you, I guess.
Crank up the difficulty and finish the level without being shot once, it's easy to do. Normally i'd brute force it solo but for a change I did it stealthily & came through unharmed.

I used the button myself, never tried blowing it up. I did however collape the structure to the right as you aproach the radar part by walking the crab cages into the posts, which is very unrealistic.

Another slightly odd thing is that I reached Aztec whilehe was still alive so whatever killed him had to be small, not that big one at the end as i'd have seen it... unless they botched the Aztec part

This is not an accurate statement. Even though you don't take out the AI the same way or use the same weapon, ultimately the game does play the same way. The groups of AI are always at the same areas, the path you have to take to each "check point" is the same, how the demo ends is still the same.

To me, I found the use of your character's cloak, speed and armor to give you an over the top edge which dulls the demo's complexity regardless of the degree of difficulty. I can always default to armor after cloak or default to speed after cloak, etc. In the end always giving me a better edge over the AI. I played the game twice and the 2nd time I only reloaded 3 times. The rest of the time I found creative ways to remove the AI. However, it was more tedious then fun because you have certain opportunities in time to do it. For example, when you take out the AI in the beach (just after you turn off that mobile radar), you go up a road that forks striaght then up a hill. If you go cloak and go up the hill you have the opportunity to use the tree logs that are conveniently stacked and held by 2 sticks (where have we seen that before?). However, if the 2 AI players move from that exact spot below (which they have) you will never get another opportunity to use that "trick". Does this add more immersion to the game, no! But does it give you something better to do, yes! But it ultimately doesn't change how you play the game. Because I could go cloak and choke one AI and throw him into the other AI without shooting 1 round. As a matter of fact that tactic can be used a lot if timed correctly. This and other tactics can be used if you know how to play the game. Better yet, if you every played HitMan this will come naturally.

How the hell did you get to aztec? Used sprint the entire time?
    Gotta try that sometime
And yes, from the vids I've seen, the aliens indeed come in various shapes and sizes

    Nice little detail that...

Also, when I was crawling around on the docks at the first outpost, I saw all kinds of underwater-life scooping around on the bottom... Mostly crabs, but the fact that they animated all these animals to make the world seem more alive just put a smile on my face... Same goes for the fish... I love watching them, and how they distort because of the water breaking the light... It's magnificent...

Yeah I remember when i first noticed the strength thing. I was shooting more accurately and losing energy and was like, wtf. WOW

Also theres alot more than fish crabs and birds. Theres bigger things like sharks and wart hogs. Havent seen them in the demo though.

I didn't say that the game used some kind of Diablo-esque map generating an enemy-placing... Things just never happened the same way, no matter what I did... I don't know what made the difference, but I'd happily play through it again, because I know the experience wouldn't be the same...

I disagree. Of course you have to get from point A to point B. You're suggesting that the objectives should be in different places and in a different order every play through the game? Maybe have boats and helicopters everywhere so you don't have to drive, or god-forbid, run? Well that's not going to happen any time soon...

What Xavier was saying is that despite you having to kill the same people, they're never in the same place and you always have to kill them a different way. Try playing other FPS demo's multiple times and it soon becomes very difficult to find 'other' ways of completing a level.

You also seem not to have mentioned the strength mode. Alongside cloaking to move around open areas, I spend 90% of my time in strength. It negates practically all gun recoil and precision aiming is much better. I completed most of the level on hard in cloak and strength without getting shot. Armor is only for when you're up against a large group of people or when you can't find shelter from a boat.

My only reservation is the way that you can grab a koreran, and lob him into a bunch of people and they all die instantly. Slightly unrealistic, at worst they should all fall over and spend the next 10 seconds frantically trying to unbundle themselves while you empty a rifle clip into them all.

All in all, I still recon this is set to become one of the best games ever. Certainly the best FPS ever, and as I'm an FPS-lover, then it makes it the best game ever for me. I can't wait for when everyone has second-generation DX10 cards that can play this game at uber-high resolutions with maximum details. There'll be so many people finally realising just how revolutionary the game is.

I just pray, that Crytek can retain enough of a hold on it for the last few weeks so that EA don't go and introduce something that will cripple the game for us (such as Bioshock's insane copy protection, or Battlefield's buggy release followed by huge patches). Not long left now...

I also disagree, as I said before it's all the same. The use of helicopters and tanks, etc doesn't negate the point that the game still plays the same. How you decide to take out the AI can vary but, ultimately as I said before the places you go, the check points you must secure before you can advance, the location of the AI and how the demos ends remains the same. Trying to disagree based on your ill conceived perception doesn't change the fact of what is reality for this game. Also, the scenario I provided in my previous post answers your question whole heartedly.

What I liked about the gameplay is that I can play predator this time! I just love the cloaking feature of the nano suit.

    @eastcoasthandle
Hitman tactics really come in handy if you're going to approach this game using stealth.

    @decami
Great, no wonder I was shooting like from a far. So strength mode comes in handy when sniping.

Yup, I line up my shots then switch to armor before actually taking the shot. This will prevent your energy from being drained as a "penalty" from shooting while in stealth mode. Also I switch out of stealth from time to time when I'm well hidden to replenish my energy before moving further, just so that I don't run out at an inconvenient time.

That's Crysis 101 for you right there

Usually, when I switch off stealth, I'm not being watched anyway, and with the silencer attached, nobody can hear my shots...

The game is a bit paradoxal... It wants to have some kind of "Predator"-esque atmosphere, but at the same time, it puts you in the role of the predator
    And I love it

    it's impressive.
i played demo at 1280x1024 no aa; all settings medium.
@1600x1200 i could not even run the game
    this on x1950pro.
    dx9
but yowsa the detail in the map is impressive.
i liked how the guys get thrown thru the air when you use a shotty

crysis as a new level of graphics is making me more anticipatory of new high end g.cards.
maybe a 8800gt/3850 can tide me over until the new high end cards :/

I tried bashing the jammer with my rifle. The control panel was destroyed in the process.

First run in the game, I was total

Later, as a got used to the controls, I could easily switched suit modes to adapt to the situation. One can even use the cloak mode when charging at an enemy and change your trajectory abit to avoid wildfire shots from a freaked out soldier. Plus no more worries about looking for some health packs lying around.

This is game is amazing! Too bad my current video card is .

Btw, what card can run this game @ 1280x1024 with very high settings and still get around 30FPS++?

8800GT or 8800Ultra if they are overclocked?

A thought... Has anybody tried simply swimming the entire way?
Disable Jammer--> swim to headquarters, get intel--> Cloak and sneak past everybody until the end of the level...

    Could it be done?

Heh, I had less than 5!!! FPS when maxing out all the setting at my native res and 2x AA. That was fun... not.

Can't even get the new beta driver working without locking up the comp so I'm sticking with the latest official driver..

I was just thinking...if 1920x1200 wasn't brutal enough for this game, imagine the guys running 2560x1600 on their 30 inchers...

I think for that resolution with AA/AF you will need 3870 Crossfire or 9800 SLi.

man............i feel sad for all of the poeple who had bought dual core and gf8/amd29xx

/me jumps stright from the best single core x86 to prob amd quad.

i guess only next gen of gpus + quad cpus will run this game good.
(not mentioning and unfortunatly vista sp1)

this is why fps are the best games !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't feel sorry for myself... Sure, I can't run the game at everything very high, but I can run it at high settings, native res, and it still looks bloody damn good...

So unless your definiton of "good" is 16xAA, 16xAF, 2560x1650, everything very high, then yes, you might be right... But I'm perfectly fine wiht my "sorry" 8800GTX...

    Best Regards
