When you run the "PCIE Clock" over 110 & dial in 1.7v NB the board drops the "Graphic interface transfer rate" down to 1x. I have tested this with 913, 1005 & the1019 BIOS's.

I have been running the PCIE Clock at or over 110 since I have had this board & it continues to run 110mhz @ 3.8ghz DDR1190 with 1.61v NB however if you want to go faster say 3.9ghz ish you may need to add some extra NB voltage to keep it stable & to do so without the Graphic interface transfer rate dropping to 1x you have to drop the PCIE clock.

Must be the reason I get no video and a funny beep at 26 post code when I try to o.c. the pci-e bus. I even bought an I.D.E. hdd because I thought that was holding me back. Thanks I just assumed it was since there was no way to lock the pci bus seperately from the pci-e bus. (heck that may be the reason!).

That's bad news about the PCIe frequency bandwidth issue. In general DFI has always put out boards that can OC the PCIe bus...so it's odd.

Hey,g0dm@n you are using the wrong one as the new BIOS CHIPS are SST-49LF008A which are 8mb Flash chips and the one you have is for a 4mb C'mos Flash Chip!

@ C-N & CyberDruid.......you should keep you PCI-E @ 106mhz tops its even stated by Raja on Anandtech and also this is Intel not AMD so it does not respond as well like our Expert boards did being its different Architecture on Intel Platform.

    One thiing worthy of investment, I have one of these;

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Newest-Design-PC...QQcmdZViewItem

you need a board with a parallel port unfoprtunately. USB interface types are more expensive..

For around $35, you can't really go wrong, most companies charge at least $10-15 dollars for a bios chip/flashing, so it pays for itself in no time..

Yes & no its not that clear cut, I never take anything I read as definitive for this very reason I happen to be looking at the same issue from another angle & thought I should share my findings also.

The article does mention the bus reverting to 1x but the article basically implied overdoing/overclocking past 115mhz ish was the cause which in this case didn’t appear to be the issue.

I can run far higher PCIE speed provided the NB voltage is kept low enough. Also the board can be coaxed into running higher speeds if you completely power down straight out of BIOS & restart rather than just restarting with ATX power to the board.

I have been running 110-115mhz for many weeks before the Anandtech article & never had a problem until I upped the NB voltage to & over 1.65v hence this issue threw me a bit.

Just to be on the safe side I am going to leave the PCIE @ 100mhz from now on anyway as there is very little to actually achieve overclocking the PCI anyway.

    CN

Quote from the Anandtech article]PCIE Clock: Overclocking the PCIE bus can be useful for benchmarking, bringing small gains to overall scores. Unfortunately the P35/ICH9R combo does not have the potential for overall MHz we find with NVIDIA's 680i chipset which could run PCIE frequencies in excess of 150MHz for benchmarking. We also found that overclocking the PCIE bus frequency within the limits of the board exhibited a peculiar issue: the BIOS would revert the bus to x1 PCIE mode for the graphics card between reboots. We managed to get around this by loading optimized defaults every time it occurred and then reloading the overclocked profile we were working on, from a saved CMOS bank. Using the Intel SATA ports, expect around 115MHz to be the maximum. Those wishing to explore PCIE frequencies in excess of 115MHz for benchmarking are advised to use the JMicron controller; we have seen examples of up to 125MHz using this method.

Think I may need one but I wouldn't put too much faith in doing programming over USB Interface the Serial Interface is more predictable and reliable!

That programmer is hard to beat. Especially since it is capable of reading and writing to most all type of non-motherboard chips also.

BE, you are right, that old interface is the most reliable method.

In terms of the article, yes there is varaince on some fuctions, we just can't nail every configuration used by the myriad of overclockers, we also have actual MCH clocking ability variance. No 2 boards are exactly the same..

In the end we just have to word these sections in a way where they are more of an approximation. Couple this with a super extensive bios and well, let me put it this way, you need to get the article out while the board's still current...lol

Ya, been checking out the Kee website I would think that you would need and want to do all that on a server / work station board with ECC Ram though being realistic with reality and the sensitivity and nature of whats being done.

Is there anyway i can get a run down of what to do exactly? The search function doesnt seem to work for me, as the images donot showup.
I also created a bootable floppy using "bootdisk to bootstick" but when i attempt booting to the usbdrive(which is recognized as a HDD), i get a message similar to this: "version not supported" "please d/l correct bios version, and reattempt flash"

You have to make it 1st boot device and format it with I think DR DOS go check Ace-A-Rues signature in the Abit IP35 Pro thread and I think and know for sure that peeople give detailed instructions of how to flash from USB Key

    I like that programmer

Man I was just changing some UV lights around in the Poison and dammit if it did not freak the board out big time.

Gave me the old "playing dead" toutine for about 30 torturous minutes before I finally coaxed it back with the RESET/POWER button techniques described in the manual.

I have no idea what the heck happened either. Seriously just swapped out a couple of fans and added and some lights...

    Maybe static?

Made me really want a BIOS chip though

Holy crap it is the light

I guess the high frequency EM from the CCL tube is screwing up the board

If I'm wanting 4GB of memory, would it be better to go for 4x1GB sticks? Or 2x2GB sticks?

Seen these on special offer until Thursday
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-096-OC

Would these work well? If not, what 1GB modules do you recommend to run 4 of?

    This will be with a Q6600 G0

If it ain't watercooled, I don't wanna know.
