    As far as checking if its in DX10 mode:
    If you go to the Advanced video settings and have the very-high settings
    it means you have DX10 mode running.

    DX9 users like myself do not have the very-high option available what so ever.

    is this demo any better than the beta? any more maps? I thought the beta was unplayable.

    Well it has single player map, rather large one at that.

    Not only that but it has the MP as well which I guess the beta one is ending?

    Playablility, well from right now they must of added more things to the engine or recoded it a bit since for me it runs slower than the MP beta does. It almost acts like beta 2 for performance wise, since beta 3 actually increased performance enough where I could turn up my display to 1440x900 from 1280x720.

    some DX10 very high(DX10 only) vs high(DX9)

    DX10 very high @ 1280x1024 was like 17~20fps, and DX10 high was like 30~35fps

    very high was unplayable .... sigh with a stock GTX

    notes that sunshaft (light beams passes thru leaf), can be done in DX9 tho.. as in beta just tweak the cfg, which i forgot lol .. so for the 1. DX9 high wont make much difference ...

    the parallax mapping makes the stones look really nice, but 17fps .. no thanx lol

    oh yeah seems like very high also makes the draw distance larger, which is tweakable via cfg i think ....

    well put it this way when walking from the subway to my apartment on very "High" settings at 1920x1200
    I average about 420 fps.

    Indeed be highly intrested in this as well. I can at least next week probably show results with my CPU OCed more to see if that effects it, probably turn up my physiscs as well, its pretty sweet. destroying buildings

    Heres some SS from a few minutes into the game.

    1440x900 Res No AA at all. "My rig takes a crap with aa"
    Its on all High/DX9 mode, xp32.

    My buddy is downloading the demo now and plans on running it in vista 64/8800gts. We'll see how it goes considering how many peeps are having issues with the 64 bit mode.

    how u get the ammo off the dead guy operates the turret ... there goes what 15 or 30 bullets .... same goes for the guy operating turret in the ship... how do u get his ammo???

    One thing I really dont like about this game, when going from Med->High->Very High settings the colors get progressively more dull/washed out. Does this bother anyone else, or is it just me??

    Wow, those with the demo running GTX and ultras (with the latest drivers) are getting frame rates in the teens.
    Who was it that said that it would run fine with a GTX, hmm?

    Lets see what the actual retail game brings to the table

    Wasn't me, I've been saying it for a while. 1680x1050 max with a mix of ultra high and high settings with a powerful system.

    I know in a bit I'll try my reconfigured ultra settings to see what I can pull out. Editing the config files can be god I know it was worth it in the beta to get a few extra frames yet hold up my high settings. Managed to tweak myself up a res setting doing that.

    I still have a slight hope for the demo... Pretty much everyone trying DX10 in that thread are all running vista 32bit as far as I can tell. Crytek outright said that they only advise maximum settings in 64bit. If I'm not mistaken, the game is apparently made from top to bottom for 64-bit, with 32bit just there for compatibility sake.

    I guess when it's done d/ling, I'll get to be everyones guinea pig for testing said statement. We'll know if crytek has been just pulling everyones chain or not in a few hours.
