I think board is limiting me, but im not sure. My RAMs do 1300mhz, so they are not the problem.
Increasing/decreasing FSB and MCH voltages not helping after 550FSB.
Highest i can reach is 554FSB to bios. But its not loading WIN anymore.
    554 seems high enough.
And seems it's not to easy to break the 500MHz barrier.
Maybe a motherboard with modifications or a DFI P35 will suit your needs

I would be so much happy if I could hit 554FSB with my E6750.
I did some improvement, but using AUTO settings I can pass 475FSB but only until 483FSB. It's strange, manually overclocking I can't get past 475, but with AUTO timings and AUTO voltages 483 is my current limit.

    Of course, using 6.0x multiplier.

Your CPU can be your limit. And not exactly the motherboard.

OK. Thanx for answering. Im quite happy with my CPU. I got now also 4000mhz with 1,5V only. Already 2hour Prime95 stable, whitch is very good result i think
Getting full moded P5K to put my CPU under Di and Ln2 also later.

You can also find the PCIe speed of a NV card by loading up the NV control panel, help menu, system info. It reports what bus it sees.

    Hi Everyone,

I've been through DS3R hell the past month. Everytime I'd go into a game, my fps would be anywhere from 5-15.

I tried everything that you can think of and more, including an rma for the board, and nothing would work, yet on my 680i everything was fine.

Today I came across a post at evga http://evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=107776
who was having the same issue, different board and components except one, and that's the Antec Quattro 850. This psu worked just fine on my 680i.

Low and behold, Antec has stated it has a problem it knows about with not supplying enough power to 8800 series cards.

Slapped my TT 750 in, and problem solved.

Another issue that arose, double boots. I figured out what caused that. I use a spot cool that I always have had plugged into the psu, well, this time I plugged it into the board, double boot everytime. Plugged back into the 12v cable on the psu, double boots gone.

I hope this will help some of you from having to deal with the frustration I did.

    DS3R Rev 2

Anyone have Rev 2 of the DS3R? I RMA'd my Rev 1 board after it started going loopy after 2 weeks and 'Egg replaced it with a Rev 2 board. This rev 2 board won't hold vDIMM though. My rev 1 board went 1.8v normal plus .1-.7 volts bumps in the bios. So I could get 2.4v with a .6v setting in the bios. With the rev 2 board, even if I max the bios to .7v, I only get 2.34v to the RAM, which would've given me 2.5v with the rev 1 board. This stinking rev 2 board is robbing .15-.20v from my RAM. It's not just a funky reading either, I can't OC my RAM on this board near as much as on rev 1.

I'm using the same RAM, Patriot Extreme PC2-6400LLK. The sticks have EPP ratings of 1000Mhz 5-5-5-15 @ 2.3v, and I was able to do 1110Mhz 5-4-4-10 @ 2.4v on Rev 1, but can't get anywhere near that now, not enough vDIMM.

Anyone else with Rev 2 board notice this? Heck the old Rev 1 would actually even over-deliver a bit, with like 2.23 on the .4v bios setting.

BTW, both boards are running F6.

What happened to your board that made you RMA it?

My guess is a cold solder. After having it a few weeks it would BSOD after running more than 8-10 hours, upon reboot it wouldn't POST at all. If I left it alone overnight, or for another 8-10 hours it would POST again and all would seem right. But then it would repeat, run for 8 hours, no post, rest for 8 hours, good to go, etc. Not that it has anything to do with my current issue of missing vDIMM on the rev 2 board.

I tested with a lower multi in case it was RAM. Not that.
Hey me, I figured out the problem. The "performance enhance" option in the BIOS does things differently in F6 compared to F4. It is a lot less stable at "extreme" in F6, for me, at 400 MHz FSB. Setting it to "normal" equals a stable system at my normal volts for 3.2 GHz.

    GA-P35-DS4 Rev 2.0

Purchased the DS4 Rev 2.0 a couple weeks ago along with 4x1GB of Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 for my new Q6600 build. Just wanted to report my current settings are running fine, and I haven't had any issues.

    Q6600 @ 400x8 w/ 1.325V (BIOS), cooled with Ninja Rev.B
    DDR1000 (4:5) 5-5-5-15 T2 w/ 2.0V (BIOS)

Only have run into one issue. Loaded up to get a baseline score with 3DMark06 yesterday and was getting horrible framerates. Never let it finish a run, but was trying to check on stuff while it was running. Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to start the task manager durning a run and found an error that was hiding. Says D3Derr-devicelost error. Anyhow, I'm not to big on benching, so I let it slide for now, but it will continue to bother me until I figure it out.

    Two questions:

    1. Whats the best BIOS version for the DS3R? I'm currently using F3 and I'm wondering if any of the later versions are worth updating to?

    2. Has any one hit a 500FSB with the DS3R and a Q6600 on air? I'm trying to get it up there and I'm not having much luck.

    Thanks.

Ok, I hate asking a question like this when I haven't thorougly searched for the answer, but I just can't see reading through 50 more pages of this thread, so here it goes:

I just installed the P35-DS3R and saved the new F6 (I think) BIOS; I can't seem to flash my BIOS! I went out and bought and installed a floppy drive, got it working, but it won't flash from that. What am I doing wrong?

I'd really rather flash from a flash drive, as I don't have room to keep the floppy drive installed, but why can't I make it work?

And what do I need to do to flash from a flash drive? It won't even recognize it.

You can overclock your Q6600, but you can't overcore your E6850.

F6 is working well just dont select the "performance enhance" option setting for memory, it's not stable.

Because it reduces chipset-to-memory latency. I have it running stable set to "Turbo", but "Extreme" was not stable. Right now I'm seeing the lowest RAM latency in Everest that I've seen yet. F6 seems to give better memory latency than F4 did.

I've never trusted windows software for flashing ... probably because I never trusted Windows in the first place

Anyway, to flash from you flash drive, you can use Q-flash. You enter the BIOS and then press F9 I think (I might be wrong, just read the bottom information in the BIOS main menu: there is a key entry for Q-Flash).

Then in Q-flash, you have to select you flash drive letter. On my PC it shows my flash drive as the letter C:\.
It seems a bit weird the first time as I thought it would be the windows partition of my HD (what is actually not possible since it is on NTFS).

then you just select the bios file and let the utility do the work.
