    Some Yorkfield-Results (2,33Ghz - no QX9650 ;) )

Here i will present some results of an Yorkfield ES. It is a very early stepping and no QX9650, so i didn't reach any interesting OC-results like Hipro, shamino oder someone else.
It is an Yorkfield 2,33Ghz Quad and his specs are 7*333Mhz with 12MB L2-cache.

The greatest problem was the little multiplier and the bad stepping. i couldn't reach any higher score.

    My test rig:

Yorkfield 2,33Ghz (cooled by D-Tek Fuzion)
Asus P5K-E Wifi (stockcooling - no mods)
    2GB Crucial Value D9GKX
Gecube HD2900XT (cooled by D-tek Fuzion)

    Some results:

    CPU-Z Validation:

    AQ3:

    Super Pi 1M:

    Cinebench 9.5:

    Cinebench 10:

    3D Mark 06:

    Some results with my E6600 @ 3,2Ghz (Ram @ 500Mhz @ 4-4-4-8)

    SuperPi 1M: 15,906 Seconds
    Aquamark 3: 171.249 Points
    3D Mark 06: 11040 Points

Last but not least a picture of this little CPU:

thats really an awfull clocking chip, shamino and vince almost cant believe its clocking that bad, neither can i.
are you sure there wasnt something limiting you?
    what volts did you try?

The 7x multiplier is the limiting factor here. Unless we see boards and chips that can do 600+FSB, this will be the type of OC's we'll see out of these CPU's.
    i7 3970X @ 4500MHz 1.28v

hey my friend you must sleep

Hmm, i tried, 1,4V and all volts on my board at the limit, but i didn't reach any higher score. i will try any more volts....

i think, that myself is not the problem

    Edit:

Here is another validation with 1,5V:

    3320Mhz

In my oppinion this could be your problem.

Play with voltages, try some combinations. I gained ~25 mhz fsb by upping only one voltage option (other remains at minimum).

Yes, i will try a little bit

Here is a little teaser of 3200Mhz @ Prime.

But i think the FSB is limiting to reach more than 3300Mhz.

Yes, i try a lower one, but the result wasn't better.

Some at Awardfabik told me, that i must deactivate static read control ans so on... maybe i have these options activated I must look in the Bios but first i wait till prime runs 45 minutes.

then i will try i lower multi and some other things.

But for 3500Mhz i must reach an FSB of 500Mhz with a quad.
I will try, but my hope is not huge...

    What Vcore do you need?

    mmmm

    FSB limited...with quad
9300 isnt going to be high fsb.

chipset is limiting for quads aswell isnt it?

    only 3.5?
    q6600s can do that!
what do you mean with you got worse results with a lower multiplier?
you reached an even lower fsb?

why are you running prime for 45mins?
whats the point of knowing if 3.2 is stable for 45mins or not?

theres obviously something wrong, either the chip sucks or you need to adjust the settings, so in either of this two possibilities, what will it help to know if 3.2 is prime stable? :P

I do it, because yesterday i've testet SuperPi 32M with 3000Mhz, but after a few seconds, there was an error. i'll do it for my conscience

In an few minutes will will play with the settings.

    Edit:

    Edit2:

    SuperPi 32M with 3314Mhz

This is the same chip that I have!!!

i was maxed at 3.2. If it only had at least an 8 multi it would of been great!

Right now it's only good for a desk ornament

Yes, your're right, an 8 multi will be great, but with a 7 multi this CPU is trash.

ya....but this definitely is an early stepping so we can't expect much. Even Alienware got a few of these chips some time ago and they told me they sucked. They just recently got QX9650's and they love'em!

Anyone have running a Q9450 ES? I'd actually like to see how those things clock--lots of people have said great but so far I've only seen the Q9300 and QX9650 clocking.

Intel is pretty tight right now on all the yorkfield chips. I've been trying to get my hands on a Q9550 with no luck. according to my intel rep they're only tight on allocation of ES chips because launch is still in january so not that many people including reviewers have them.

its been known that so far the ES yorkfields have a fsb max of ~470fsb. so i'm not surprised that SeLecT only got 474fsb out his 2.33ghz ES.

hopefully this is just an ES thing and that retail chips will go higher.

The early steppings of the ES samples that both Select and I got were definitely not good, but i know of a few system builders like Alienware, Voodoo(HP) and Falcon that got there hands on the newer steppings and have said that they are a lot better. I believe Biohazard and hypersonic got chips too.
