I just ordered them I'll post my results. About Wednesday of next week. i really want to go to 4x1gb of these but scared I'll get a crap OC and have to sell one. DDR2 1000 speeds at 5-5-5-15 would imo be nice at 4x1gb.

What kind of performance gain would I see when going to 4Gb.

Mine are coming on Wednesday this week. Probably just normal ballistix. A new set of those is exciting for me considering I just got in the ddr2 game. First sticks were corsair 6400. I did no research on those and it turned out they sucked.

Great deal going on right now on the regular Ballistix 6400 at Buy.com.

If you take advantage of all the available discounts and rebates you can get a 2 gig kit or as low as $15.

Edit: Correction to the magazine offer...you must choose a magazine, then afterwards you send in the cancellation/rebate request. If you choose the No Thanks on the magazine offer you will not be eligible for the Add'l $10 MIR discussed below.

In lieu of the Google Checkout, you can opt for opening a Buy.com VISA card and get $30 off, instantly...that brings the $55 down to $25, then at checkout you can select the No Thanks (this is wrong...see Edit above) to the free magazine offer (read the small print, click on "see details" and get your add'l rebate form) and instead receive an add'l $10 MIR which now brings your net cost down to $15 (edit: actually net is $14...price changed since I did this), after the $55 Crucial MIR, the $30 instant discount for opening a C/C and the $10 MIR for not getting a magazine offer.

Some prefer not to open another CC account, which in that case the cost will be the $44 you stated above, less the $10 MIR for not getting the magazine and it ends up costing you $35.

Either way, one heck of a deal and to me, those black LanFest spreaders and the blue lights are hardly worth the extra.

The only downside is that the "free shipping" is a little slower than newegg's. It will probably take a week or so to get them.

I've bought several times before from Buy.com and never had any issues.

This is what the magazine deal looks like at checkout...you've got to be sure to follow the See Details link to get the add'l MIR form!
BONUS! 1-year Magazine Subscription included with your order!
Choose your bonus magazine subscription before checking out:

TV Guide (56 issues) Blender (12 issues) Maxim (12 issues)
Computer Shopper (12 issues) Redbook (12 issues) No Thanks

Included with your purchase over $10, get a 1-year subscription to the above magazine of your choice (a $10 value)! To get your bonus subscription, simply make your selection above before checking out.
If you decline your magazine subscription you may receive an allowance for its stated value - see details - by sending a copy of your order confirmation and rebate form within 30 days to: M2 Processing, 1630 30th St., Ste. A, #497, Boulder, CO 80301. By accepting this offer, you hereby consent to Buy.com’s transfer of your name and mailing address to M2 Rewards to fulfill your magazine subscription. Please allow 6-8 weeks for first issue delivery. See details. *Excludes PayPal Express.

They (the regular Ballistix at Buy.com) have dropped another $5.

Hang in there and before long they will be paying us to buy these things.

If my anniversary with my girlfriend wasnt coming up in a week, I would hop on those right now. Just bought her a necklace and of course, spent more than I wanted to. Seems I do that not only on computer parts.

Next paycheck I will have these.

By the way folks, current rebate has expired, but I wouldn't be surprised to see another one pop up soon.

These seem to be able to consistently hit right around DDR2-1200 at/near default voltages, with those 5-5-5-15 timings.

I think that is in line with the regular 6400s, as well.

Well I did do 4 - 4 - 4 - 12 I believe at 1035 and I didn't run prime or anything but I played graw 2 for two hours. I'll check those timings out later. Right now I'm at 1150 @ 2.2v. I had to bump it up because my pc froze after 8.5 hours of prime.

Edit: that cas4 took 2.25volts how far you think it is safe to go? for 24/7 use Right now my case has poor cooling. I'm about to purchase a CM 690

I say 2.3 with a fan over the ram. I am in the process of testing mine with 4/3/3/8 trimmings at or near DDR 900

For those of us in Canada, NCIX.com has some crucial ballistix on for cheap right now.

    2x1gb 8500 5-5-5-12 kit $84.99 after $40 MIR here

I just ordered 2 kits, cost $10 for overnight shipping from BC to Ontario, and I avoided PST

Ok I wont be back for a couple of days as I'm using a freezer 7 pro inside a htpc case. lol. for real. I jus bought a cm 690 case with a ultra 120 xtreme and four 120mm sflex fans. Also I will be perfoming the heat pipe mod using mx-2 so things will change a bit. Once I get this stuff up and running I'll push the ram further. I dont want to push any more in this setup as you can see in the screens I'm running a little hot at low volts.
