I use Scythe Infinity with my P35-DQ6 and no backplate romoval was needed.

As far as your CPU's temps are concerned, there are many factors that affect it. If your ambient temp is high, then so will be your CPU temp. If your case ventilation is not good, then it will exert a huge impact on the load temps ...

All in all 60c is high, yet by no means dangerous for the CPU. Stock coolers don't perform very well so you can do much better while using Scythe Infinity (~10-15C lower depending on your vcore)

Thank you mach82. That was very useful info. I'll probably go for this cooler then if there is no objection. The ambient temp in my room varies between 20-22 degrees C. My case is Antec P182 with four 120mm fans set on low and system temp 36 degrees C. One more question. Is it correct that a Scythe Infinity with a 120mm fan mounted on the RAM slots side will block at least one RAM slot? If it blocks two slots then it is pretty useless because I won't be able to use the memory in dual channel mode.

    Bluesign:

I use a Scythe Ninja Rev B on my DQ6. You can see pictures of it in use on someone else's different motherboard on page 55. It's big, but it just barely fits the other coolers, using all of the possible space it can (I mean no extra room, but it has 1/16" - 1/8" space where it needs it). I got another one for my wife's computer too (she gets a DQ6 too so I don't need to have different drivers all the time). And the backplate stays nicely in place too.

When you put a fan on the side though, the ram slots are covered, so you can't be using any high-rise ram coolers. My high performance, low profile Patriot memory fits nicely.

Bluesign - if you install your sticks before the fan is mounted, then there won't be any issues. Install the radiator first, then your sticks and then the fan.

    Hi all,

I have a P35-DS3P, Corsair PC6400 C4 memory & Q6600 G0. It won't let me run the memory in 2.0 divider - only 2.5 upwards, which means it is overclocking it earlier than needed. Any ideas why? The Abit IP35 I had before allowed it :/

    Cheers

Is there already 101% working Vdroop and Vcore mod for P35C-DS3R?

what are your settings for 2.0 before you apply them (voltage+timings)?

I'm trying to get past 475 FSB but system fails to POST...

    Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 Rev 1.0 BIOS F6
    E6750 + Scythe Infinity
    2x1GB OCZ DDR2 1066 Platinum SLI-Ready

Buy I'm currently running only one stick of DDR2 @DIMM2 because the other one is deffective.

    I'm trying to reach 6.0x 533 1:1 FSB : DRAM with 2.00 divider
Starting at 333, going to 470 without any problems.
Issues seem to appear with the 470-475 range and beyond that the system won't post.

With stock settings I use ram divider 3.20
    8.0 x 333 = 2660 MHz, DRAM runs at 5-5-5-15 2T 1066MHz DDR 5:8 (3.20)
So seems the ram can do 1066MHz without any problems.

BTW my E6750 will do 3.36GHz (8.0 x 420) without any problems with default vcore (1.35)
Tried bumping the other voltages. No effect.
    Tried vdimm 2.1, 2.2, 2.3... nothing

    What am I doing wrong?

You can see my full system specs in my sig.

how well does tyour patriot stuff run on it? with anythign other than one ram module my comp crashes under orthos blend, but small ffts it runs fine, take one module out, either of them and it runs fine with blend:S
after the PSU i'm planning on watercooling the ball bearings in the fans...

After reading some reviews I remained pleasantly surprised with Thermalright ULTRA 120 EXTREME cooler and I'd very much like to have that over my CPU. But it seems that it can't be installed without removing the backplate. And I wonder isn't there a way to mount it without removing the backplate?

A friend of mine wants to buy the P35-DS3 and he has a P4 Prescott 531 rev. G1. He's not very sure that his P4 will be comapatible with his new mobo because it does not apear on Gigabyte's CPU Support list.
Now, will it work? I tried to convince him that will work and I told him that only cpu's with FSB 533 aren't compatible with this board.

He mailed GB and they said that regarding his issue, they will reply later. lol

I've read the most part of this thread and... it's only me or the P35-DQ6 is not such a great board after all? I think it is about time to draw a conclusion. I've been using this board (rev.1.0) for a month now and I must say that I am pretty satisfied with it, though there is a minor glitch that I'd like to mention. Therefore, I overclocked my E6750 to 3GHz and everything was rock stable. Then I tried 3.2GHz and it was also rock stable though the temps were pretty high. BUT... after reverting to the default settings (333x8) and overclocking again after a few days, I noticed that I can't adjust the FSB in 1MHz increments anymore (except the 333 default value), only in 2MHz increments. I mean even if it shows 375 in BIOS, for instance, it is in fact 374 during POST or as CPUZ shows, 377 is 376 and so on. This may not be such a big problem but it is nevertheless annoying and I wonder if there is a way to fix it. I tried pretty much everything, from resetting the BIOS to fail-safe defaults to rewritting the BIOS and even reinstalling my OS and still nothing. So I think there is no place better than this to get any more suggestions on how to fix this. And I mean really... If you, guys can't help me, I'll probably give up and forget about it. However, if this is something common with these boards and you have experienced the same weird behavior, then please let me know and I'll probably feel better. Oh... and could you post a link for the F6 bios for DQ6? I'd like to give it a try. Thank you!
Set PCIe frequency to 101MHz and you'll gain back that one extra 1MHz... it happens to me at certain FSBs as well... 333, 356, 367 are the only ones I am aware of right now, but setting 101MHz PCIe will get you where you want to be.

Hi guys I have the GA-P35-DQ6 board and I love it for how COOL the PWM runs under load 1.58 Vcore. Though I've replaced the thermal pads with AS5 on NB and Ceramique on PWM area and SB.

It holds my Q6600 G0 overclock at 3.75GHz pretty nicely.

But as you all know this board has one BIG problem with PCI-E X16 port falling back to x1 randomly. I have tried upping the PCI-E Voltage up to +0.3 and setting PCI-E Frerq. between 100-115.

No matter what setting I choose it falls back to X1 after a reboot or changing the boot device in bios and 99% of the times I have to power down the system and literally pull out the graphics card and reseat it to get the full X16 bandwidth back again.

Anyone out there knows precisely how to tackle this problem?

Here is more info on my system/setting:

    P35-DQ6 rev1.0 BIOS F5
    Q6600G0
    VCore1.587
    VDimm +.35
    PCI-E V:Tried +.05 up to +.3
    FSB V: 0.35
    MCH V: +0.3

    417x9

I am pulling my hair out here. I just want to stick with P35-DQ6 if possible (for as long as I can resist the urge to buy an I35 pro) as imo it has the coolest running cpu voltage components among all P35 boards wich I value more than the flaws it has like the lack of tRC setting for memory tweaking and non working EIST.

Any thoughts? Although I have tried different bios settings to tackle the PCI-E X1 issue before I am keeping my mind open and willing to start over if someone has any suggestions.

    Thank you.

    According to another forum
Set your PCIE freq. to 101 mhz. That will correct the 1x PCIe link width.

It appears this problem is caused if you alter the vcore voltage.. I'm still waiting for the board, but starting to get worried as I read more and more problems

That was the main reason i ditched this board within a week...

PCI-E 1x prob appears when u're using MCH voltage over +0.2v. Try to lower that and see what happens. If the high vmch is required for your oc, then either lower your oc or get another m/b...

I am not giving my P35-DS3P enough voltage to have the problem, but my old P5BDlx did the same thing, one trick i had with it and it usualy worked is when the x1 appears, shut it down, unplug the power cord and press the power button on the case a few times, then replug the cord and at least on the P5B dlx it was back at x16 after that

wow. I went from F4 to F6 and I can hardly get my CPU to do 3.2 GHz now. It is taking way more voltage to get there. Not sure what's up with this. Goin back to F4.

I tested with a lower multi in case it was RAM. Not that.

What is the highest FSB you have reached whit this board[DQ6]?
My E6850 Week 27A does 550FSB but i need more!
I think board is limiting me, but im not sure. My RAMs do 1300mhz, so they are not the problem.
Increasing/decreasing FSB and MCH voltages not helping after 550FSB.
Highest i can reach is 554FSB to bios. But its not loading WIN anymore.
