But here , we are not talking for midrange card , 2900 pros , are the same with 2900xts with different name just for marketing reasons ,

Amd sold the cards with very low core frequency just to not the cards hit the xt's , But as we see all the pros can reach the xt's freqs and beyond .

Plus we dont know yet 100% the 2950 pro price , and specs.

Damn that value card like this had to come from the 9500@9700 pro ages.

[i think you sould go 4 it. ]

    Great thread guys!

A couple of questions if anyone could help.

If I bought an XT(cheap 2nd hand) would I be able to add a pro and flash it to xt and use them in crossifre?

Also does the bios from say a pro sapphire card have to be flashed with an XT sapphire? or could two different manufacturer cards be used in xfire aslong as they are both XT bios's?

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated guys.

You could flash a Sapphire Pro with a Club 3D XT BIOS, or BBA ATi BIOS, it really doesn't matter. As long as it's an XT w/matching amount of RAM

I figured out my problem. it was the drivers. I reinstalled 7.9 and the clocks are changing now. I got 11020 in 3dmark 06

    with 800/914 at stock volts
    I get 11540

I'll be getting my second card today.

I just changed my order . Instead of the 1gb version (which really is hard to get your hands on apparently) , i just went for the 512mb version . I will be getting it next week .

on a side note : are there any people here who removed the stock heatsink and went for the Thermalright HR-03/R600 cooler setup ? I want to know how much impact it has on temps .
Like would it be able to handle a small voltmod when it has a 120mm blowing over it .

Be adviced - the shim around the core is slightly higher then the core it self.
so regular block for 8800 wont fit?

Measurement inside of the shim is approx 32 by 32 mm. You need to find a block with contact area thats no wider than that. No knowledge on the the 8800 blocks, so I don't know.

On a side note: How does Chri$ch get his vddc to stick? Hardmod?

Yeah, I'll try push it some more tonight. i'm only at 800mhz at the moment. I'am getting a second card today, waiting for the UPS man to show up.

I'll have some x-fire results up on a p5b dlx. curious to see how well it'll do regardless of the x16 and x4 on the second slot.

This is FRUSTRATING. I'm using the ATI BIOS you posted on the site (1GB version) but I always get the "Bad command error".
Are these the files I should have?

You're supposed to use ATIFlash, not WINFLASH

    http://nickfire.com/Atiflash343.zip

Put that on. Boot off the thumbdrive. You do this process in DOS, not windows. Follow my guide closely next time

Now it's saying that it can't find the 2900XT BIOS, the rest of the command is fine except for the 2900xt. I'm supposed to type it how it's in the flash drive, correct? I type it exactly how it's in the screenshot.
