Damn 860. Can you loop something for a few hours or overnight?
By "2900xt drivers" what do you mean exactly? bios? Catalyst versions?
Ya these are def mad overclockers and the vid card deal of the year at least so far. Wish more ppl in this thread had a 1GB but it's no head-scratcher why they don't...

Damn, I'm loving this card more and more. Just played the Timeshift demo. What a rush. Maximum settable settings, 1680x1050, >60FPS. r0x0r.

Well whatever you have...tho common sense says something not so stressful i.e. later 3DMarks. I'm gonna try to run opengl fur overnight at 825/950 for starters. Just tried UT3 at those clocks 1920x1200 and now moving on to some ep2 and tf2![]()
Speaking of UT3 it looks and runs great. Never dropped below 60 (which is the fps cap btw) Also great multithreading according to rivatuner cpu monitor
wtf was up w those UT3 screenies at pcper?![]()

Or try something like rthdribl
http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/
Or anything 3D. Doesn't matter what ofcourse; stress over time is the point. I just don't feel comfortable leaving something like 3DMark 06 looping overnight.

okay.. imma be running fur while i go to bed.. 1024x768 windowed with 8xAA.. good night ya'll
and i played the crysis demo.. on full at 1440x900, averaged somewhere around the 40fps mark.. not too shabby.. got a few hickups during intense battles, but that may be due to my only have 1gb of ram
and might i add, that vista performance of crysis.. IS TERRIBLE... i had to run on medium....

I just pulled the trigger on a 2900Pro myself.
It was a tough decision between it and a GTS 320, but the cheaper price of the 2900 swayed me in the end. Plus the fact that it OCs very well, it seems.
Also, I only game at 1280x1024 max, so I figured the performance hit from AA wouldn't be much of a problem at this resolution.
Should arrive on friday, I can't wait, this X300SE is unbearable! :P
EDIT: I went for the PowerColor 512MB card. Reviews on Ebuyer confirmed that it has the 3-heatpipe cooler. Should be ace.![]()

Can some of you guys run some non-AA benchmarks at these settings:
742/DDR1650 (stock R600XT specs) vs
825/DDR900 (rumoured stock R670XT specs) *just DDR900 because of 256bit memory bus*
I'd like to see how the new core will perform speculating that the only major optimizations done are in the AA area and the rest of the core is only a simple die shrink.
Thanks in advance![]()

Just a few questions here.
I was looking at getting the 1GB version (if it will help me and to give some people some results to look at).
I am running
1440x900 19" LCD WS Monitor
MSI Neo-4 mobo (or something like that, had to buy it as a replacement)
3800+ dual core (socket 939)
big typhoon heatsink (am probably gonna give my 3800+ a bump)
2GB Geil DDR500 Ram
I want to know if with that set up if the 2900pro 1GB card will be overkill or if I can have the 512 version and be perfectly content. I am also purchasing a Corsair 620 when I purchase the new card.
If the 1GB will help me at my resolution then I'll buy it. If not then I won't. But either way I'll share some results with you guys.
Thanks in advance.
PS.
I'll be playing games like ET:QW, UT3, Crysis etc.
1GB won't help @ your resolution, nope, no way. Go for the 512![]()

Thank you guys so much for the quick response. I'm going to order it now then.......
before I do though I had a question about something I read.........
Is this true? If that is true then why would I want to flash my card to get lower memory frequency when I can just overclock the core? The 512 MB version has a memory frequency of 1600 while the 1gb version has 1850 and the 512mb version is gddr3 while the 1gb version is gddr4.
The only differences between the 1gb 2900pro and the 1gb 2900xt is that the core frequency of the xt is higher (740) than the pro (600) and that the memory frequency of the pro OEM(1850) is actually higher than the xt OEM(1650). This info is found in the excel document directly from Sapphire’s website.
Is that logical or am I reading into it.
I reached my personal goal!

Hell yes its a mini-ITX gaming rig!
So you are suppose to type this: ATIFLASH.EXE -f -p 0 ATI290~1.BIN , exactly how it is? with spaces and the horizontal slash?
Ownage you need a quad! With your SM2 & SM3 scores, you could easily break 14200 with a 3.8GHz quad.![]()

What is the performance difference between the PRO and XT bios?
Is it worth to flash this card to XT?

I might be the first one who flashes a 1GB 2900pro. I'm off now, I'll let you know if it works!
what exactly am I suppose to do with this?
"Extract this ZIP file and point the "using system files" location to it.
When the format is complete copy all files from that ZIP file onto the USB stick.
Additionally you need your flashing tools, just copy them onto the USB stick as well."
I extracted the USB image file but now what? My USB drive is already formatted using FAT.
