Nice to see that both NVidia and ATi's heavy hitters can keep a constant maxed framerate. Seriously, finally a high-end game that doesn't appear to favor one camp or the other!

I can't believe this runs so good on my system. x2 at 2.6 with a x1950xt. It runs really good. Game is fun as hell++

Not for me... with 1152x864 res and all settings on "1" framerate stays between 35-45 on a 24 man multiplayer map (measured with Fraps). My 7900GT is overclocked to 650/820, and my X2 3600+ is at 3GHz.

Yea I immediatly noticed it looked like I would be using some 15 year old CRT with faded out colors or something hehe.

As far as performance goes, I'm very happy, min FPS 31~32 or so and avg fps is ~50 FPS @ 1280x960 with everything set to high with this 7900GTO. So will be nice playing with a 8800GT or 2950 Pro/XT later on with maxed AA and AF.

Being both a UT1 and UT2k4 player I immediatly see it's true what they've been saying, UT3 is like a balance between the original UT and UT2k4 so ppl liking either of those games will surely like this one too. It really has the UT feeling in it still, that's for sure.

About weapons, I feel Link Gun primary fire is a lot more powerful now than it was in UT2k4, where you got mostly angry when the opponents kept avoiding the quite easily dodgable slow cell ammo. Now that weapons looks more like UT1 and that's fine for me but perhaps a bit too fast ammo rate, difficult to tell that yet after initial testing. Enforcers are a lot more powerful now and easier to hit the enemies and I felt they were actually very usable. Altho I do miss the grenade secondary fire a bit as I used to get many kills with this in UT2k4 especially in those crowded DM1-on-1 10+ player sessions. Shock rifle I quickly started liking with it's combo usage, primary fire had quite a lot delay between the shots but I see it why. In 2k4 and UT1 minigun with the slower but more accurate fire mode was very usable for long range battling. Now the minigun's fire spreads out a bit more and primary fire is a no go at long range and the more accurate rate isn't as effective as it was in UT2k4/UT1 but it sure works ok but this is where shock rifle and the rather slow paced primary fire firing rate would make shock rifle too good if it had faster fire rating and sniper rifle still as usual is a good weapon in long range, it's basicly shock rifle, minigun 2ndare fire mode and sniper rifle which works for long range. I'm happy about Flak Cannon, 2ndary fire mode needs a bit more skills now to get a good hit while primary fire has become a little more useful. Bio rifle feels very balanced and still works very nicely as a tactical weapon. Haven't got anything special to say about Rocket Launcher, it's not too good and not too bad, works in most places, in UT2k4 it was quite bad for close battles but now it works quite a bit better for that too. All in all first hands impression about the weapons felt very good.

An update on the Xp64 issues. Its seems those who downloaded the torrent or keyless versions of the game are the ones having issues. If you get it to install on Xp64 and come up with the unsigned error, try downloading it from FP instead. Im waiting in queue right now to see if it works.

Must only effect XP x64... I just reformatted with Vista x64 last night and I'm running the game flawlessly.

The unsigned error is the modified error. If you run the .exe file with the -log command it says that the .exe file is unsigned, thus giving you the modified error.

damn this sucker runs like a champ. solid62 fps. only dips to 58 on really heavy frag action, very optmized. Nothing really new here, but its fun. Can see lots of league play with this one.

for people on xp64 ive read you need to make sure u have the new C++ dedrist, and .net framework. should work ok then

So yeah, it's pretty.


Shangrila has really good flow, tunnels w/ windows on the outside w/ a focus on the center. There's a top level that works really well for getting away from the craziness, while still supplying some action.

The animations seem pretty random and ragdoll's through the roof. People EXPLODE in this game, they do not blow up. After receiving my first "Head Shot!!" announcement I was greeted w/ a popped head and then he raised his hands up all shaky!

It doesn't look like I'll even be needing AA as the action's just too quick. Speaking of, it feels like UT99...that's it I'm done...must play.

I ran windows update and changed drivers now my fps sucks Went back to old drivers and my fps still sucks. 15-25 MAX when I had 62 constant before... I really wanted to play again to.

Alright, seems that something else is afoot. If you did download it from FP and gave it a key and it still won't work along with myself having both .net and C redists installed and its still not working, it has to be something on Epic's end.

But then why the hell are some people saying that it does work in Xp64? Maybe its not Epic's fault after all..

yea i treid it with 2 differnt servers. one west coast and one east.. and it also never asked me for a key on either one of those installations..

Now whats needed right now to make it work.
Apparrently epic left the debug version running, thats why I could run it on my main pc with debug kernel installed.

I did a clean x64 install and got the same error that everyone else did.
the fix is to go to the ms site at:

download the file http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/s...4_6.7.05.1.exe

And yes that works for intel as well.,
Install it.
run windbg you just installed.
open file, open executeable
Pick the unreal exe
now keep hitting f5 until you get the ut3 graphic, then just wait
Game should run
