My info was that the Raptors with the latest revisions had a problem with P35...

    First time builder...

I am pumped about getting a Special Edition Maximus...

Do we know what makes them Special Edition?
    ok simple

asus p35 chipset has the same southbridge as the x38 asus mobo and yes some users are having issue with the p5k deluxe and permium mobos and some western digital hard drives all other p35 mobos are not having the issue it is ether a bios issue that asus did my mistake or it is a mobo disign issue that they will have to replace the mobos that are bad that being said the chipsets go like this

    Northbridge (ie chipset
x38 is replacing the 975x that is almost 2 yrs old

p35 is replacing the 965 which is also old now.

intel has the (southbridge) this is where you have sata and other things

the old 975 and 965 had mostly the ich7 verisons

the new p35 and x38 have the ich9 versions

Already have baught the Raptors, and think water cooling is the way to go with Quad processors. I had my mind set on a water cooled rig.

I think the WaterkegIII EX should be easy to set up.

like maybe not raptors but Perpendicular Recording 7200.10's . i would take 3x seagates over 2x raptors and save money plus out perform them ...imo
special edition probly means a fews things but mostly water cooled stock .
    Thanks for the offer...

This is what I have already baught:

    Thanks for the great info....

So if we were splitting hairs it would be better so say on the Asus p35 mobo's, some Raptors are having a problem with the southbridge, that is eather a bios issue or a few bad mobo's.

    I think I have it!

I am sure my Max won't have that issue....

I'm thinking positive... Asus, do me right on this one.

nice. 300 is a bit much, im done with buying expensive boards.

gonna wait for the quad gt, may pick it up. Though ddr3 prices are slated to come down in spring 08, so i may just wait till then

one cool thing about x38 if u already own p35 is, u shouldnt need to do a fresh install to get the board up and running, they both use the same ichr9 controller, and the new p35 chipset drivers also support x38 in the release notes. should be a breeze

    In Stock

I'm not sure about the other sellers but I know ewiz is notorious for releasing boards before any other vendors. Chances are if they list it, they will ship. This has been comfirmed from 975x, Commando, and Abit IN9 from me.
