thanks kashelz, i will try those settings, its really pain with the 680i's i mean yesterday i was testing 3.4 for 2-3 hours with prime and it was fine, and than i restarted and tried 3.6 and that froze after 1 hour or so, and here comes the funny part, after that failed i couldnt even get my 3.4 stable, and i cant get any overclock stable now, i am testing at stock right now and so far so good.
i had ip35-pro and wanted to go sli so i returned that board and got this one, and with the ip35-pro my G0 q6600 did 3.4 with 1.3 loaded and 3.6 with 1.38-1.4 loaded. and those overclocks were 8+ hour prime stable. i dont know what the heck is going on with my board all of the sudden. right now at 2.4 its been working fine with prime. at 3.2, 3.4, 3.6 it froze with in second. so i dont know whats goind on, and dont understand how it was stable for hours and now it wont do it on the same settings.

Anybody figure out the fix for the xvid/divx problem? I am experiencing the same thing as GAR, system is totally stable. I can even watch an entire show streaming on the internet, but when I watch an xvid/divx it wigs out after about 5 - 10 minutes. My monitor loses signal, sometimes it comes back, sometimes it does not and requires a reboot to fix it. Other than this problem the system is stable. I'm using Windows media player 9 and may try upgrading to WMP10 and reinstalling the divx/xvid codec.

im beginning to think this might be a driver issue, or a windows issue and not an overclock issue??
Following settings are stable for the past two days:
FSB 1600, 9x multi, 400 x 9 = 3600 Mhz.
Mem @ 1067 Mhz 5-4-4-12 @ 2.0v
HT Multi : 5x/5x

CPU: 1.4v
CPU FSB: 1.3v
nForce SPP: 1.4v
nForce MCP: 1.5v
HT SPP<->MCP: 1.35v
This is stable for everyday usual work, that includes among other things video editing and gaming. It's Prime tested for only 2 hours.I will do full Prime test during the weekend when I don't use computer that much.

OK.. nm.. just read about CS3 installing a program called bonjour that can cause problems. I think I resolved my problem it was because I was running my movies off of an external HD. I figured out that if I turn on the HD while the computer was on, it wigs out after a few minutes. But if the external HD is on before the pc boots, it works fine. Go figure. Gar, have you tried using windows media player classic to run your videos?

Ok, here is my settings that I got after tweaking a little bit more, nice 3.8+ Ghz on Quad for 24/7!![]()
Here is my settings in BIOS what I use now - P30 BIOS btw:
FSB 1700, 425 x 9 = 3825 Mhz
HT 4x/4x, PCI-e 100/100/100/200
CPU: 1.575v (1.472v real lowest - vdrop mod soon)
CPU FSB: 1.3v
Memory: 2.2v
nForce SPP: 1.5v
nForce MCP: 1,725v
HT SPP <-> MCP: 1,45v.
And here is 12+ hours of Prime95 on all cores. Its Q6600 G0 L720B0028. Overclocks really good with low voltage![]()
And what is max recommended safe voltage for Quad G0 CPUs? And how high CPU temperature can go safe without damaging anything on the same core?![]()

I finally have had a chance to work a little more on my overclock. Q6600 from TankGuys, L720B066.
I'm at 3.824 @ 1.525vcore, 1.51vocore in Everest (I did the pencil mod).
I've been running at 3.8 24/7 for about a week now, it will run Prime95 and OCCT stable for 4 hours and I just shut it down out of boredom. Temps with CoreTemp run 71C, 70C, 68C, 68C at full load. I'm using a Dtek Fusion water block. My vid is 1.3.
Not bad. I'm really happy with the overclock, not thrilled with the temps. I have never run any applications or games which max out the CPU like Prime or OCCT, so I don't think there is a problem with the temps.
The Evga 680i A-1, P-30 bios, has worked flawlessly.

Runs at 1.45v - 1.48v according to Everest
Mountain Mods UFO-Horizon
Good to see others are having more luck with the 680i
Q6600 at 3600MHz, both wPrime 1024M and multiple loops of 3DMark 06 stable at 450FSB. Vcore is 1.525 (Stupid B3...)
CPU 1.525
FSB: 1.4
MCP: 1.45
SPP: 1.65
HT: 1.4

Anyone using this board with Crucial Ballistix PC8500 (1066) and if so how well does it run with a high FSB?

Hello guys. I'm new to Intel and could use some help. I have a evga 680i ar with p31 bios, q6600 go, 8800gtx, 2gb patriot 1066, ocz 850psw, raptors in raid 0 with clean install vista64. I can't seem to get anything above 3.8 that is stable. Oh, i'm on phase and temps and not a problem. I unlinked the ram and cpu and the ram is set at 800 for now. I've been to 4.5 at 1.6v and post, but won't load windows. 4.2 will post and load windows, but very unstable. If someone could give me some numbers to plug in to what should be changed would be great. I have not messed with anything else but the cpu stuff. Should I change some of the other volt options? Thanks for the help.
If you are using the AR version, you should probably switch to the A1. The A1 was the 2nd revision to come out to improve overclocking on Quads and such. AR was seriously gimped from the get-go. That's my 2 cents. eVGA says they will do a cross-shipment I believe for the A1 board. Contact eVGA support.
Thank you Reinvented, I will look into that. This is the board i have eVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR. I thought that was the newer board? Here is the other board eVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1. Anyone have any ideas for what I should try to oc?

Ok, I still need some help. I have the 680i A1 and I can't get this thing to be stable. I ran at 4.2 for a few days and was stable and now I can't run above 3.8. I'm on phase, so temps are not a problem. Can someone please help me with the bios settings and what voltages and things that should be on/off? Thanks
Well, what are you looking for? Benching/suicide? or 24/7 stable. Theres a difference between these two types.
If you are looking for 24/7 stable, you gotta test it out yourself. If you have read through this entire thread, you'll notice some very valuable information...such as setting things on auto. You are the only one that can test, because you are the one that has the hardware. No one else can do this for you, as you will know what your stuff is capable of. The general rule of thumb is, bump voltages up or down one setting each time, until it's stable to your liking or what not. And yes, it takes time...overclocking is an art, not a race.
