Huge problem here... just put together the following:

    p5k deluxe
    C2D E6750
    4GB (4x1GB) Kingston ValueRAM 800MHz

The PC, most of the time when powered on goes through an endless "on-off" loop, turning on for 2seconds, then turning off, then turning on again, etc. On the few times it stays on, managed to upgrade the BIOS to the latest beta, but no sucess on the problem going away. One strange thing, it seems it works fine WITHOUT any battery on the mobo, of course this is not practical.

Ah, I didn't even try o/cing the thing.

    Any thoughts? Thanks guys
it can be caused by multitudes of things( such as RAMs, PSUs and others), try posting your complete setup and maybe other can help too...

    Well, aside from:

    p5k deluxe
    C2D E6750
    4GB (4x1GB) Kingston ValueRAM 800MHz

    There is also:

Samsung 320GB 16MB SATA Hard Drive
    Corsair 520W Modular PSU
    XFX 8600GT Pci-e

However, It's not the PSU or the VGA, because I tried other ones.

Post all the BIOS settings u are using. have you done a memtest86 run on the ram to make sure it is okay? Check the 24pin and 8pin 12v connector are properly connected. Put the CMOS battery backin if you havent already done that. Check your CMOS reset jumper is on pins 1-2. Did you put standoffs in when you put it in the case. If you make no progress its always worth going back to basics when you have a problem like this and starting off with testing outside the case with minimum components. If its not any of these it does sound like the PSU may be at fault. What others did you try - same problem?

Benchzowner did some volt readings on the P5K3 Deluxe, I think it should reflect to the P5K deluxe.

    here are his findings:

BIOS Set to | BIOS Shows | Real Idle | Real Load
    1.35V | 1.336Vs | 1.333Vs | 1.335V & 1.336V |
    1.40V | 1.384Vs | 1.383Vs | 1.384V & 1.385V & 1.386V |
    1.45V | 1.432V & 1.440V | 1.435V & 1.436V | 1.435V & 1.436V

    BIOS Set | | Real Voltage |
    1.80V | 1.867V
    1.85V | 1.920V & 1.921V
    1.90V | 1.953V & 1.954V

As u can see, is that the real volts are pretty close to what the bios shows( cpu-z). And that it is a sure thing the board is overvolting the Dimms
Not sure that is the case.

After reading this and also reports of the P5K deluxe killing ram, I needed to check for myself.

I don't know how accurate my readings are, but with a mm my readings are.

Bios Set | Real Bios | Real OS
    2.25 | 2.23 | 2.23
    2.1 | 2.1 | 2.1

Obviously not all P5K deluxes are going to be the same, but these readings are somewhat re-assuring. For me anyway

Hi guys, just would like a quick yes/no here.

I'm still on 0311. I want to try get some more out of perhaps 0503 (i understand its the latest).

    1. Can you go back to older bios with no trouble on this board?

    2. If i'm expecting a bit more, am I stupid?

    2. If i'm expecting a bit more, am I stupid? NO. I'm not sure about 311 bios to 503, but from 404 to the latest, not much has changed.

Would doing the vdroop pencil mod have any negative long term effects ? Are there any advantages to doing this mod ?

heh RLM yea it was on a P5K3 Deluxe tho, but I thought it might reflect to the P5K Deluxe, but I could be wrong as u stated they are pretty much the same as real, hmz about P5K Deluxe killing ram? I dunno about it at least not noticed, I just hope mine ballistix would last me some time. Before upgrading to DDR3, if this rumor is true:X

I've just bought my new mobo, the asus p5k deluxe wifi-ap, but my i'm a bit confused and concerned, does this motherboard really runs that hot? i mean, it's running extremely hot compared to my old good one p5w dh deluxe, even with everything on stock clocks, the cpus runs hotter compared to my p5wdh deluxe, and the cpu seems to get hotter pretty much faster when it's under load compared to the p5wdh deluxe, my cooler is a thermaltake bigtyphoon, and before putting the cpu onto the motherboard, i put a new thermal paste on it, and everything, so, that's not the problem, anyone here knows if this is normal? (My cpu is a Q6600 (B3) + ASUS P5K Deluxe wifi). Thanks. And eva, congratz for the topic, extremly useful and helpful.
