Some knows if the Q9450 can in my Asus P5W DH Deluxe with 2004 bios G0 45mn edition (dont know the name of the maker anymore)
And are the perfomerance more than a Q6600 than a Q9450 ?
(sorry for this nooby's questions) :-(
You need to update the bios and it should work:
http://event.asus.com/mb/45nm/
The Q9450 should be a bit faster than the Q6700, cooler running than the Q6600 but could be limited by its 8X multiplier for overclocking on a 975x MB.And are the perfomerance more than a Q6600 than a Q9450 ?
(sorry for this nooby's questions) :-
ME WANT Q9450

you know I was gonna buy a q6600 but I think the e6600 can hold out till jan for a 9450 or 9550

Wow those gaming benchmarks, power consumption comparisons and heat comparisons are the sweet spot for me. I'm glad I didn't keep my Corsair 620HX cause my Enermax 500W will be able to pimp out the new smaller nm CPU and GPU chips no problemo.
For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

So is Intel going to make these 1600Mhz FSB as Last Min changes?
My Rig can do EpicFLOPs, Can yours?
Once this baby hits 88 TeraFLOPs, You're going to see some serious $@#%....
Build XT7 is currently active.

there yo go bringing intel into a amd thread again lol, if that was someone droping a dig at amd you would be crying like a girl.qft!
As far as I can remember reading, Intel will have a refresh of the 775 platform by releasing a final 775 chipset in 2008. So one could expect those mobos and cpus will definetly bring 1600fsb to mainstream.
I also remember them saying that Nehalem will not be a desktop cpu in first.
That means that they will milk C2D for all that its worth, and few months after server Nehalem goes public Intel will drop it into mainstream(4core for sure, 8core).
I guess the 2p guys have something to look forward to (posible 2x8core beasts before desktop users get a taste of 4cores - dream)

You might be right, I don't know what Intel will call it. Yet, so far X38 didn't get some of the tech it was supposed to get according to what I read somewhere. The one I'm talking about is after Eaglelake and ships H2 2008
Here we go again with another transistion product. While Intel's Processor folks have been on the ball, their chipset folks are laggingD I mean come on Intel, i965 Chipset running hotter than a Dual Core processor?
The condensed version.

Not OT but still on Nehalem. Here's how flames start. As the old saying going, "where there's smoke, there's fire". Nehalem borrows from INTEL'S past technologies that were not ready, needed better engineering, smaller processes, OS support and last but not least, software support. I want to stress, Intel's technology, not copying AMD and getting fanbois trying to teach some noob otherwise. Example.

Shame on you Anand!Nehalem will no longer use a FSB but a serial point to point interconnect. Even more revolutionary is the fact that 1> Nehalem will have an integrated memory controller (IMC) and that the number of serial interconnects is variable (Intel's version of "HyperTransport"). Another potentially groundbreaking move is that some 2> Nehalem CPUs will have a GPU integrated (Intel's version of "Fusion"). With an integrated memory controller, new interconnect, and potentially integrated graphics, Nehalem will obviously 3> require a new socket.
1. Look up IBM Summit with multiple North Bridges linked serially years ago. Intel Fabbed Alphas and could have went with EV6 long before AMD did. When Intel bought up the remains of Alpha, they had to promise to not cut off AMD's license for the deal to go through. They have the RAMBUS serial BUS license as well, wink wink!
2. Intel is copying Timna that was their SOC (system on a chip) long before any Athlon shipped with an IMC and Fusion wasn't even an idea in those days. For Intel, this tech was the last thing they planned for RAMBUS. Meaning its older than Intel's support for DDR1 LOL!

This is what I mean by mudding the Information Pool. Now Fans at the AMD Zone will take the misinformation as Gospel and flames will follow. It's kind of sad that Nehalem would be downplayed like this and AMD given Credit where absolutely NONE is earned or due. The name of the story could have been, "Intel revisits Timna". Then this version of Nehalem might even ship before Fusion. Looks like VIA beat them both LOL!

sooo...
we will see 45nm cpus in Q4 07, 45nm cpu's with 1600 fsb in mid 08, nehalem around end of 08
and in the chipset department x38 now, higher binned x38 end of 07, a chipset officialy supporting 1600 FSB mid 08 and a new one for nehalem? did i get that right?
looks like i'll be getting a x38 baord + Q9450 and then sit out on 1600 FSB ones and then as next upgrade a nehalem... (in case amd doesnt get to grips till then lol)...
Yes, they can say 1600MHz FSB as much as they like. By the time Intel reaches 1.6GHz FSB, they'll be on a new socket. Or at least that's the way it looks now but that is not set in stone. Intel is bound to build Nehalem based legacy processors for not only Sc775 but the Xeon Based Sc-771, as part of their Stable Platform marketing.
Some said/claimed 533MHz FSB support for the RAMBUS based i850. It became a lie when only the i850E supported 533, just as only the 865 and 875 supported 800MHz FSB. Then don't get me started on all the BS with i915, i925, 945, 948, 955 and etc.......That's another reason I went with an Athlon 3500+ in those days.

quick question:
Will the Santa Rosa chipset in notebooks that currently come with T7xxx be compatible with Penryn T8xxx series?
I.E can I just drop a penryn in my Santa Rosa notebook?

Then Intel pulled back Penryn as AMD stumbled with Barcelona. Meanwhile, Intel can sell off old but great performing Core 2 D/Q's. They're still eating up server market share like a hungry fat guy or that hot dog eating champ.
They'll be able to load up inventories and supply large numbers of 45nm at launch, this will keep prices down as well. That is the real bad news for AMD who'll still have tight to limited supplies selling for small profit margins.
