i got 2 sapphires here that via riva tuner clock to 800mhz in windows vista 64bit on the stock heatsink. what i beleive is holding me back is A there are no good vista 64bit overclocking utilities for ati and B my new motherboard isnt exactly stable yet. im doing some crossfire testing now but overclocking in crossfire is even harder![]()
so I go over 1 month without a gfx card and buy one that may not be as good or as low price as the 2900 pro becuase the girl in your av tells me too?

Guys , please keep it on topic .
This is meant to be a very informative thread about 2900 pro cards .
That said ,
I am still waiting on my 1gb card , it seems sapphire has problems delivering them to the local stores here .

Sucker runs hot. Idles at 38c watercooled and the radiator feels a little more than warm to the touch with fans at low. Clocks at 859/1800 using ATI overdrive. So I suppose ATI Tool is the way to go?

Does anybody know if the HIS 2900Pro 512mb from Newegg is the 9inch card or the 12inch? I'm not seeing this information on any of the retailers that currently the the 2900pro's. A 12 inch card won't fit in my case. I'm wanting to pull the trigger today but I need to make sure it'll fit first.

Well I pulled the trigger and ordered the HIS 2900Pro 512. The HIS and Saphire are probably the same but the reviews I saw with great performance was HIS.
This is a little OT, but I'm going to sell my evga 7900gto. I'm thinking about asking $140 for it. Is this an ok asking price?

Got my 1GB yesterday. Went for that due to it being GDDR4 and needing to play at 1920X1200 and wanting eye candy, though the 512 would have probably cut it ok. Weak bundle though compared to some of the 512s, I didn't even get Dungeon Seige!![]()
Didn't have much time to play with it yet as I was watching the Cubs lose again last night but my initial impressions are generally positive (coming from an X1950 XT 256) though I had some wierdness. Such as the Cat driver I downloaded wouldn't install claiming it needs admin privs (wtf?) so I used the one off the CD which I havent done since my Voodoo 2, heh. Also, 3Dmark 06 and 05 just hang at the splash screen even after reinstalling 06. Did complete 3dMark 01 (38,900 with my system at stock (2.13Ghz)) and the OpenGL Fur Benchmark and played 90 or so mins of TF2. Averaged 110 FPS at 1920x1200, 4x/8x, Very High Texture quality. It was a blast and looked fabulous! Oh at that point I had my machine back overclocked to 3.4 and the gpu overclocked to 750 as a preliminary test as well.
Think my issues are just software related. My machine overdue for a wipe anyway so think ill do that next this weekend.

hey guys did ATI actually fixed the AA issue? I heared that is a hardware limitation and mostlikely cant be solved by drivers. I can be wrong but any1 knows more about this?

I did some testing today and:
XT BIOS
PRO BIOS
Looks like PRO BIOS is faster! Reason why I did run XT BIOS @980 memory is because it was slower @1035MHz!
You can also compare it to run with slower CPU on PRO BIOS and same core/mem freq.
So I'm back on PRO for now and looking for recent XT BIOS!![]()
PS. I did try atiflash -p 0 xt.bin -newbios -f and it didn't changed voltages ...
