P5K Premium bios won't save

Hi guys I am having an issue with my new P5K Premium, when I enter bios to change boot priority and then proceed to save and exit, the pc powers off for a moment then back on but I see nothing but a blank screen. I then have to hard power cycle it and after booting again I get the overclocking has failed message. Anybody able to help me out? I am majorly p***** off at this.

It does that when it finds an unstable OC. Are you sure your OC is 100% stable? Try backing off and see if it reboots like normal.

yup as pak said make sure your oc is stable.
the mobo boots up at a lower voltage than what you set in the bios.
and for that split second during the POST when the bios is lower, it will cause the system to not boot.

also dont forget with asus if you are stuck in this no booting situation, just turn the pc on and right away start hitting DEl and Insert, alternating. this will force it into safe boot mode and let you into the bios.

you can also just reset the cmos with the onboard jumper but that sucks.

The one thing that I do like about my new asus p5kc is that is has never gotten stuck and not booted. No matter what I fubar in the bios settings, it finds a way to get me back into bios. Not having to pull the CMOS batter out is a great feature.

Alright guys I sorted it, it wasn't an unstable overclock the system was completely at stock. It was a wierd bug (in the shipping bios anyway) that generates a failed overclock error unless you set you ram to run ddr1067 even with ddr800 sticks, once you set that all is fine .

I've been suffering from boot problems with this board as well even though I haven't overclocked it yet. Sometimes it takes 5-8 power on/off cycles before it will post from a cold boot (and occasionally on a reboot). Sometimes I'll get the overclocking failed message and other times I'll boot right in to Windows without problem.

I'm running an E6850 G0 and Mushkin XP2-6400 4Gb (2x2Gb).

I'll try running the ram at 1066MHz and see what happens.

Mine did the same exact same thing as yours.. It's gone for a rma.
I tried everything, except the ram adjustment. Too bad this thread wasn't up earlier.

Drats.... no luck it seems
PC still has a hard time cold booting or even recovering from a reboot.

Funny I don't seem to suffer from the SATA problems many are having with this board (even though I'm running 4x WD 320GB SATA II drives), but this boot issue is equally as annoying!

I had a similar boot problem back when I first got a P5W-DH Deluxe and pared it with an E6700. It was frustrating as all heck and nothing seemed to fix it until one day Asus released an updated BIOS and the problem was fixed. It's been a great board ever since.

I can only hope that the P5K-P just needs a new BIOS to resolve it's quirks.

P.S. My ram is running just fine at 1066MHz 5-4-4-12 once in Windows.

At least you'll know this time . Other than that I like the board a lot, still using the stock cooler so haven't done really anything with it though.
