Exclamation The first AMD RX780 motherboards

Jetway has very first SocketAM2+ mobos on AMD RX780 chipset.

Models are A780S and A780G. Only difference is presence of gigaLAN for "G" version...

    http://www.jetway.com.tw/jetway/syst...ame=A780G#show

From mine experience with Jetway nForce mobos, this is top quality manufacturer that stands out with from the big names with extremely appealing price for the uncompromised quality (for example all their mobos have topnotch PWM section)

they are only lacking in bios updates, though...
and color combination. But we already got used to that, courtesy of msi, foxconn...

    As for the board:
    - not liking that it only has a single x16 and x1.
    - the cpu-pwr placement is a joke
    - my guess is that the backplate has audio, 4 usb and 1 Gb lan + 2x ps2. Not much..
    Usual suspects: i5-750 & H212+ | Biostar T5XE CFX-SLI | 4GB RAndoM | 4850 + AC S1 + 120@5V + modded stock for VRAM/VRM | Seasonic S12-600 | 7200.12 | P180 | U2311H & S2253BW | MX518
    mITX media & to-be-server machine: A330ION | Seasonic SFX | WD600BEVS boot & WD15EARS data
Laptops: Lifebook T4215 tablet, Vaio TX3XP

I think there's enough pci-e lanes in there for an x16 and an x4.
Also, the layout could be a bit better.
Also, the backplate looks like it will be quite empty.

    What more do you want?

    Audio Check
    USB Check
    GLan Check

Heck they even put on PS/2 ports for your keyboard & mouse on top of the 4 USB ports.

    5-phase PWM is excelent...

well it is a good chipset but Jetway isn't exactly known for good designs.
Fast computers breed slow, lazy programmers
The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

...right like anyone here would buy that thing, unless for some kind of gag gift or something, it would turn out something like this "hey look i built you a new computer, but guess what, its going to go to hell in a week cus the mobo is a piece of trash and will take everything out with it, have fun!!!"

do you speak from experience, or do you just farthing with cold water?

I see that you have eVGA mobo... I guess you don't know that your so called "brand" mobo is build and produced by some manufacturer like Jetway?

Point is I've tested couple of yetway motherboards, and all of them are superb quality, much beyond first tier players (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte) in given price range... hell they are better then much expensive motherboards from these players.

Regarding the layout it's excellent. Look position of IDE, and power connectors, distance of PEG slot from memory slots, placing of SATA ports... look at the fully shielded coils and capacitors in the PWM...

Layout is not perfect but then how many are, for a mid range board with one PCI-ex16 (you can shove your sli wank) this looks like a very good solution and Jetway have always been better than most re quality..............much better than Anus or Gigashat
lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's

i think that RX780 doesn't support multiple VGAs so no suprise here. otherwise it looks like a solid board except of the PCI-ex1 position.

SLI???? we are talkin about ATI/AMD MOBO here. and second we are talking about value chipset here. the chipset doesnt support xFIRE because its ment for budget boards. looks like you have pretty good idea of what you are talkin about. we are not talking about RD790 here. R≠X

has a simple and effective layout. looks like a solid offering for the price. Lets hope we see more AM2+ boards come that are good yet not expensive.

I think RX780 is the budget version and there is also a RD780 supporting Crossfire with two X8 links.
Seems we made our greatest error when we named it at the start
for though we called it "Human Nature" - it was cancer of the heart

Granted this is XS, but we all have brothers/sisters/parents/friends etc that need rigs and if the placement is right, the power reg is good and hell even if it overclocks a small amount but rock solidly, i'm sold.

    This has got me thinking.

Seeing as at the budget end of computing there isn't much difference in the price/performance and especially if you don't overclock...
Am I the only one who looks to buy AMD for those who don't need high performance (gaming/overclocking) rigs? I like to support the underdog to keep competition.
