collectors?!?!?! who the hell collects cpus? i don't think we have too many people running museums here... its a marketing campaign wasted on such a ty product. i mean its good for phase and such, but how many people are gonna waste that effort on a k8? sorry amd, but ANYTHING else you could have released wouldve been better, 2900pro, rd790, a freaking mousepad or amd energy drink, lol....

nah I have to disagree with you there. CPU is better than a mousepad or energy drink

I wish they would divert this marketing money toward getting Phenom out the door...

I've been dreaming of this day since K8 came out.
Fast computers breed slow, lazy programmers
The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was

I have to admit I do agree, whilst being one of AMD's biggest fanboys I cannot get my head around this late-comer. This shoulda been with us a year ago, not now, not with Phenom around the corner.

It should allow for Multi selection upto 20 AFAIK.

Again, I can't really disagree, this CPU is such that there should also be a 939 model released for all those users still using 939. If anything I'd see it being of more appeal to them.

    --------------------------------------------------------

As for the clockability of these cpu's........you'd think AMD would know the cpu's potential and would charge accordingly were it able to outperform a 6000+ or 6400+. I think this is more a novelty with it's unlocked multi.

Me think its saying 3GHz is stock volts, just a flip of the multi: http://www.4gamer.net/games/022/G002235/20070924001/

So basically they're clearing out the top bin K8 stock, and pricing it to move? The X2 6400+ is a perfect example of K8's upper echelons, but I was actually expecting something new or just a little innovative on the 25th beyond an unlocked multi on a non-FX chip. The 'Black Edition' must be their latest ploy to gamers while Phenom is waiting in the wings.

Well I guess you can't have a frightening snake without phenom (read venom) or venom with without a snake.

Just trying to see AMD's logic behind this one.
    Intel? Core i5-4670K @ 4.3 GHz | ASRock Extreme6 Z87 | G.Skill Sniper 2x8GB @ DDR4-1866 CL9 | Gigabyte GTX 970 OC Windforce 3x | Super Flower Titanium 1000W | ViewSonic VX2268wm 120Hz LCD | Phanteks PH-TC14PE | Logitech MX-518 | Win 7 x64 Professional | Samsung 850 EVO & 840 Pro SSDs

If all people would share opinions in an objective manner, the world would be a friendlier place

I guess it's just a typo in the ad. It should be spelled "Do you care?". Would make more sense ^^

it already got a decent funeral with the 6400. this was waking up the corpse and asking it about its dialysis days... its a top bin for brisbanes, which at 2.6ghz, is pretty sad.

I hated to see that this is what AMD came up with after all the hype. Of course we're the ones who created the hype. But after I got over my dissapointment, it's probably not a bad deal for someone looking for that type of cpu. Unlocked mult, hand picked, so it'll probably overclock decently. Not worth the hype, but what the hay. I do agree they should have had a 939 version.
