nVidia ForceWare 163.71: Crysis/etc. = giant performance boost!

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_163.71.html

Users around the web are reporting gigantic performance boosts, including myself, with these new beta drivers in the Crysis Beta. It is immediately noticeable before even loading up FRAPS... going from unplayable at the "Very High"-tweaked settings (max available in beta) and requiring usage at Medium settings to just-about-playable-smooth at the max ones.

Looks like nVidia's on the ball here!

EDIT: Personal numbers: 22-25ish outdoor fights to 42-46ish average with the 163.71's, and 60-65ish now indoors. Other games have seen a small boost as well.

Yea these drivers are great overall not only in Crysis, I noticed I had about same and in some cases slightly better performance than the tweaked XG 163.67 and 163.69 drivers too. Don't have Crysis so can't tell about that game.

And I love how some forum/comments and moan about NV releasing too many drivers...

I know I'd sure don't wanna wait a month @ a time! Now if one we had some sort of auto update, like Windows update for them.

btw, just a question: why isn't the 7800gt on any "products supported"-list of nvidia's recent winxp (32bit) driver releases?

Well they should work anyways, perhaps just a screw up by NVIDIA driver team. At least I saw a 7800GTX owner already liked this driver.

EDIT: Umm for me those are listed.

It's all about the NGO optimized 163.69's...I probably picked up about +6-7FPS on average. Not to mention that I've heard more lackluster comments about these than positive ones, in fact this is the FIRST thread I've seen about performance "gains" with this set.

163.71 are mixed bags, seems for GF8 owners they are not so great but for GF7 owners they are good though.
