He originally stated that he'd create a block if 10 guys would pre-order. However, he seemed to have backed down on that promise at the last minute.

I don't know why he would back down from serving perhaps the most popular mobo in the market this year. Regardless of what he thinks of the mobo, it makes no commercial logic.

I must add my two cents in

I purchased this board 5 months ago and I've had nothing but problems since. I've gone through 6 rmas and the 7th board is on the way.
I'm in the process of trying to get a refund, but I won't hold my breath since I know it's never going to happen.
Evga should of recalled this board and created a new one a long time ago
Until I recieve my board, I can only stare at my two 8800gts cards as I play quake wars on a laptop with an ati 200m graphics card.... 640x480 all settings on low and it still runs at 10-18fps

I've heard horror stories about all of the 680i boards. Having actually used the asus striker, abit in32max, and the evga the evga is honestly the least problematic of the three, and I've heard griping about the dfi as well.

At least with the evga the problem seems to stem from sloppy TIM application and not the actual board itself, the same can't be said for the others.

Your board story sounds horrible and I hope no one has to go through something like that - however considering that game isn't even officially out yet, it's hard to make performance claims on it... for all we know, you'd be getting the same FPS with a 8800GTX SLI setup...

Which is true. I get about 30FPS at 1900x1200 with all settings maxed on SLI in Quake Wars.

To the previous poster, you must be doing something wrong yourself if you're on your 6th or 7th board. I've gone through a few myself but later realized most of them were due to RAM problems and not the board myself. Not to criticize your computer skills, but 6th or 7th? You're lucky enough that EVGA continues to honor such RMA's. Most other companies wouldn't even grant you the first RMA.
