i would like 3.2 GHz stable can I expect that?

    what should i know?

any bios flashes to take care of for mobo/gpu?
Hi BTK - not sure if anyone has responded to your post, so here goes -

I am using a GA P35-DS3 (F4 bios) with an E6750 at 3.2gig @ 1.37 volts - with stock intel cooler it idles at 28-32 deg and loaded (Orthos) 48-52 deg.

So in answer to your question, 3.2 stable, I say yes, in fact you could probably go to 3.4 - 3.6 or higher with the cooler you have ordered. I am very impressed with the stability and performance of my system.

BTW for 3.2gig - set the FSB to 400 and mem to 1:1 (2.0 in bios) which runs your PC6400 (800mhz) RAM at rated speed - with micron chips your RAM could probably run much higher.

    I am using Corsair PC6400 5,5,5,18 - pretty cheap, but I can overclock to over 500mhz (DDR1000) with Vdimm @ 2.1 volts.

Not much else to add - its a straight forward setup - whci should give you good results.

Good luck with your new rig

ok My cpu was stable at 3930mhz on my 680i dfi board. I know my cpu is not the problem. My problem is that I do not know the voltage requirements for the NB or FSB for 434-440 x9 FSB.
Also once I run orthos the systems reboots itself and on the health status sub menu from top to bottom the DDR18V is showing Fail. My voltage is +35 for vdimm. what could be a good starting point for NB and FSB volts for my desire speeds. I'm running my pc8500 micron chips under their stocks speeds (860-880mhz).

    thanks

Maybe its the turbo standard ram options? That stuff is pretty screwy IMO. You tried different ram slots?

F6= F5g as far as I can see from trying both.

F7 doesnt look anything special apart from the bug fix.

I currently have E6850 on DQ6 at 3.9 (9x434). Using bios F4 I was orthos stable >12 hrs with normal settings on FSB and GMCH voltages. I just updated to F6 and currently testing orthos, but so far stable with no increase to FSB or GMCH, others had said did not need to touch those til over 450 FSB. But boards may differ.
After updating to F6, I did have to set pcie to 105 and pcie voltage to +0.05 to keep my pcie from going to 1x (instead of 16x), or crashing my oc.

The fail on vdimm voltage is typical, just ignore it. Mine said same on +.4 setting (corsair dominator 2.2) when I run my memory at stock 533. Reads OK now since I am "underclocking" to 434 and decreased volts to +.3.

I'm getting the PCI-E x1 instead of x16 problem too, but I'm using F4 BIOS. I changed all kinds of settings in BIOS, changed vFSB, vMCH, vPCI-E, and PCI-E mhz. Set FSB to 398mhz to see if it was 400FSB that triggered it, but that didn't help.

I just put my GTS in the second slot. That one still runs at x4.

I guess you are getting the same problem as others, the PCI-E bus set a x1. Read the last pages of this thread, people with this problem have posted some solutions.

strapping nightmare! I have a P35c-ds3r using crucial (pc8500) have flashed to f4g-f4i-f4 and now back to f4g. Always starts out with a 1066 strapping, as soon as system hangs due to lack of voltage or whatever im trying it goes to 800 strapping. Of course I have to make alot more changes then. after 5-7 reboots, hangs etc. reverts back to 1066, where it is suppose to be. I also when loading OS, sometimes get a small error window saying Not for this chipset! Can not get past 3800 ( E6850) Is this about the max on air?? Thats at 1.5 v on core, speedfan reporting about 44c temp same as coretemp.95(thats load temp running prime), though have heard you need to +15 to temps on speedfan.
Is this jumping back and forth with 800-1066 strapping just a gigabyte bug?? I also have to run +5-+6 on vdimm isnt that like 2.4v?
sorry bout the unorginized post, just venting! main question is locking down the 1066 strapping , most time im tweaking this board its 800 and I thought with the 1066 ram it should stay 1066. Im beggining to think that this pc8500 is the exact same as the pc6400, just higher SPD dump. I originally thought it was tighter binned.

man relax on those vdim volts +4 gonna give you 2.34-2.4
    check your droop on vcore
and yes alot of 8500s are 6400 use to be 5300s before that 4200s lol
1.5 is plenty to get to 3.8

    Hello !

I completed my first new build last night and it went well, I do need pointers on a couple of things though, I hope you can help.

At first the CPU fan wouldn't spin, checked all the cables but nothing, I then moved the fan header from CPU to SysFan1 and it worked, I checked the temp in bios and it looks fine, anyone else had this problem, is it safe to use this long term ?

Anyone using a Zalman CNPS7500 (120mm superflower) on this board ?
I couldn't get one of the lugs to snap down over the bracket, a small square black power capasitor is in the way which ever way I try it. I gave up in the end and fitted the stock fan.

    Thanks !
