didn't say they were HT3 compatible...just said that they supported dual power planes and dual HT links. :P

didn't say that either...i'd expect SysTool or nTune would work in software and i'm sure Asus' "pretender" workstation boards will have some hardware OC'ing as well.

well, that was actually a bit funny....I'll have to talk to Anand about that.

i was referring to the general core performance, that's all.

From the hinting you have been doing I thought k10 was going to wipe the floor with core 2, how are you right?

what you read into my hints has absolutely nothing to do with it.

i was hinting that performance was markedly improved vs. the B1 benchmarks that sheeple had been mindlessly quoting as production performance.

as far as performance is concerned, for the platform work i'm interested in, AMD has again raised the bar on performance. *shrug*

    cheers,

    Hey Dave,

Can you tell me anything about the Asus boards, didnt mean to be brash. I was just dissapointed . What work are ya in that the AMD's excel? The only reviews I have seen are Intel favoring apps, and I swear Im gonna stab the next person who brinks up the int benchmark or whatever it is. ITS ONLY ONE!

    /end rant :p

Thanks for your comments Dave, they are appreciated.

i'm going to be working on a whole lot of benchmarks in the coming weeks including ESX integration, some custom applications that folks have asked me to run, etc.

i'm also going to try to trend the dual plane power and dual HT links situation using the same basic boards (S3992 and S3992E) to show the performance disparities and also to show the perf. disparities from B1 to B2/BA.

should be fun...I'm in no rush, of course, but...we'll see what I can get done.

    cheers,

lol...of course, everyone's going to scream at me for not including intel results but, i don't care. not going to significantly overhaul my test bench to include something that:
    a.) costs more $$$
    b.) sucks more power

    i've got movieman for that.

    Haha.

Ive been reading about these chips anywhere I can find em.They look like a great alternative to Intel for power / heat consumption and price. Im looking forward to further revisions of these chips. Looking forward to your reviews starting as well.

Anandtech did an article where they threw a 8800gtx into a barcelona rig, planning on any 3d tests that might exploit the cpu?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

edit: I know Supreme Commander will eat at a quad. Might be a good comparison as [H] did a big article on SC performance and how it increases with the Q6600. Might be something to compare. Im sure I can come up with a quick formula to roughly estimate the difference from the graphics cards used.

Dave: since there is other people asking you about new benchs, could I ask you for special and explicit report on gamess and gromacs benchies, which are on F@H and SpecFP, please?

Those are the most importat benchies for me and my work.

    Thanks a lot!

OK little confused here. Are you saying the Chip johan tested was not the final revision and as such better performance is still to come?

he claims stepping B1 in that post which, if I may quote my AMD FAE:
