Got my stable overclock sorted, not enough Vmem. But another problem, My network connection drops often. I originally thought it was my router, but I'm beginning to doubt that. Anyone have same problem?

Yea i get that too. I figured it had to do with an unstable overclock. But I may be wrong. First appeared under Vista when I switched from C2D 6700 with 2GB to Q6600 with 4GB.

Well I wanted to oc my Q6600 G0 to at least 3Ghz running 334x9 with 4gigs of ADATA Vitesta DDR2 800+. I guess the memory is the problem cause I could not get stable Prime runs at 5-5-5-12 (and 15 & 18)-5-30 timings at 2.0, 2.1 or 2.15 VDIMM / 4:5 Divider.

The CPU Temp was not the problem (around 62C +-3 or 4 degress under full stress). Nor VCore cause it did not make a difference for Prime on Auto, 1.4V or every setting in the 1.3x range.

I had to lower my overclock to 320x9 = 2.89Ghz to get a stable prime run and regain a stable wlan connection for internet access.

I might try to raise the VDIMM some other time to test again but currently I'm playing BIOSHOCK.

just got myself a Q6600 stepping G0 and 2x1 Gb Cellshock PC6400 CL4.

When trying to overclock them i was only able to reach 360x9 FSB with the memory at 450 MHZ 5-5-5-12.
Then i tried to lower the FSB so i could test the RAM at 400 Mhz at 4-4-4-10, no problems there.

I then raised the FSB to 400x9 and RAM at 1:1 4-4-4-12 at 2.10 Vdimm, now it wouldnt Post.
I tried to boot with the same settings except i let the BIOS set the timings pr SPD, it booted but the timings was set to something like 6-8-8-16, at 400 MHz??

Do i need to raise the SB/NB above the minimum non-auto settings?
And lastly how much current can i give the RAM and the SB/NB when i dont have any aftermarket cooling?

I have a Antec 900 with 2x120 mm in the front, 1 120 mm in the side window, a 200 mm on the top and a 120 mm in the back sucking air out, so the air is being replaced pretty quickly.

I hope theres someone that can help me with this, its pretty frustrating to have spent a fortune on the best parts and then only getting a mediocre result.
Especially because the individual parts work fine when tested individually, but not together

P5B Deluxe problem here; Mine isn't posting. Tried it with one stick of ram, the board, E4300, and my 7800gt. No beeps, no posts, nothing. Is it truely dead?

Hope this does not sound too stupid.......Check your power supply; this MB is finicky about these and the Ram. Does the blue ASUS light come on when you plug in the power supply. If so, check to make sure the 'white' system panel connector (at lower right side of MB) is completely plugged in. I have had trouble with that staying put. This MB does not have an internal speaker, so unless you installed a beeper you are not going to hear anything. I use an Antec Neo HE 550W power supply and
G.Skill 6400PHU2-2GBHZ which definately work with this MB.

And when you write 1.45 on the chip, what do you mean?

He means 1.45 volts for the CPU VCore voltage and 1.45 for the NB voltage (Vmch). I have an E6600 running at 399 x 9 and I need 1.50VCore.

Yea, the thing is, it worked up until today. Silverstone Element 500w is the psu, Buffalo Firestix pc8000 is the ram. When I turn it on (with a screwdriver, since I run it caseless), the light on the bottom of the board changes from blue to purple (from when it's plugged in but not powered). I have a pc speaker hooked up to the board.

Weird. I'm experiencing the same exact problem right now. After months of working flawlessly I came home today to a computer that won't post no matter what devices are plugged or unplugged. The only time I get a beep is when I remove both sticks of RAM which leads me to believe its related to the voltage issue this board has upon bootup. I'm running G.Skill 6400PHU2-2GBHZ with the Corsair HX520W PS.

Any ideas?

I'm having issues with freezing on boot after installing the latest intel chipset drivers. The problem manifests when I have AHCI enabled for the sata controller, but when it is set to IDE it is no problem. The progress meter will make a few revolutions but then just freeze and move erratically for _hours_.

Thought it might have been giveio.sys (Speedfan installs this), but removed it and problem still happens.

The only time I get a beep is when I remove both sticks of RAM which leads me to believe its related to the voltage issue this board has upon bootup. In case anyone else is having this issue I ended up borrowing a stick of different RAM from a friend and I was able to boot up. Now comes the task of finding out why after months my g.skill suddenly wanted to stop working.

as reported on Speedfan 4.32 went from 35 to 40C to108C. I opened up PC Probe for comparison and its reports 147C. They normally reports fairly similar temps. I opened up the case and everything seems to be fine. Any Thoughts?

Well, what was the problem doakh? Your temps really spiked pretty bad, I would assume that your heatsink somehow got loose or slipped around a bit? In anycase glad you got it solved!

" I opened up PC Probe for comparison and its reports 147C " That can't be correct, can it? The highest MB temp I have ever noticed on my system was around 60 to 65C. But, 50c +/- is the norm.

I would not think your system would even run at anything close to 147C. Maybe you need to keep both panels of your case off. And, a high power personal fan from Wall or K-Mart (if you are in the US) directed at the MB.

Could be that your sensor is shot.

I don't know. I turned my computer off a an hour and restarted and everything was fine. When I turned it on this morning everything was fine also. So, I guess it was one of those anomalies. Some potential reasons......global warming, a HOT chick walked by, sunspots!

Well, it's still happening and I've been running at STOCK SPEEDS for a week. I woke up this morning to a BSOD. All stock (266mhz fsb, all voltages defined, but set to their default values, except for the memory since it won't POST unless I go up near 2.25v)

What's really frustrating is that I've got 2 sticks of Crucial Ballistix ram, and after my BSOD, the pc will not even POST if I have both sticks installed (this happens sometimes, but not everytime I BSOD). The RAM tests fine, but I haven't run it for more than 1-2 complete tests in memtest. The big thing is that I've even had the RAM RMA'd once before.

Should I just try new RAM? Switch brands completely? Is there a known "good" pairing for RAM and this mobo? Will I always need to keep the RAM voltage bumped to 2.25v, or is that a feature of my Crucial ram?

I don't have Crucial RAM, but I always had great performance out of them many times in the past. I have some Kingston HyperX PC 6400. And, not know for the best OC with the chips on it. It is on the ASUS QVC list. I run it at 2.3 V for about a year. I read that this memory needs it to perform at or above specs on a few reviews. Rated 1.95 v.

First I had some Corsair 8500cs with this board. And, it did not perform as well as the less expensive DDR2 I have now. And, I am now running 4 sticks. I read on the Corsair forums that the 8500cs is not compatible with the P5b at anything close to specs.

I think if you have a problem at 2.25v, you could just RAM it again.

Yes, RMA and it is not a QVC list. It is a QVL list

i have crucial ram, works nicely with my p5b-deluxe.. no problems at my side. ran at 600mhz before.

I have used G.Skill 6400PHU2-2GBHZ on this board with an E6600 and I have never had or heard of any problems.

I have a question. I have an extra Asus P5B-Deluxe that has been sitting around for a while. It had never been out of the bag. Looks like the Northbridge is glued on a little out of alignment and the pins had snapped off in the bag
Is this a problem or is the glue strong enough to hold it on
