The review looks good, exactly and ONLY EXCEPT FOR this sentence.

It has around 14% for "K10 applications" on an opteron machine. What means, that you are locked to 666MHz ECC on memory.

The probable common memory for Phenom will be 800MHz non-ECC.

If someone here can risk on saying that it's NOT expected to improve even more, please tell me and show the proof. Otherwise, this is an astonishing machine for server and hpc market, as is seen in the other review AT Anandtech, and showing promisse (of more than 14-15% of improve in average) when it's about the future desktop version of it.

    And with clocks already improving.

I want two! But I do prefer two Montreals.

What should increase the logic preview above a bit more, shouldn't it?

    Anyway, another review: http://techreport.com/articles.x/13176

    Still reading.

And yes I said the exact same about AMD when I had my Athlon 64.. I go where the value and power is
The funny part is, I remember such a post by you and the "Way to go man" pats on the back you got. Yours and two others posts are the reason I went with a 3500+.

Yup and I'm looking at a Q6600 as well BUT if AMD's kicks a$$ and has a reasonable price, I'll be on them like Stink on S#it

It was my impression that perhaps the 30k score was generated via a 'tri-fire' (ie 3 video card) solution. This may be incorrect... time will tell.

Yes after a LOT of ???? and again ???? for the 30k, others said it was with tri-fire, others at lower resolution than default, others that it was the 2k5 and not the 2k6, others that it was the 2k5 with lower resolution and others that it really was 2k6 with CrossFire.....What is true and what not, perhaps we will NEVER know it.....

What is true is that the story, as the Inq reported it, was total BS and set up a lot of unrealistic expectations on how K10 was going to perform.

Of course we talking about the Inq, this is par for the course for them.

The really funning thing is the story has very little BS in it but has some missing info.

I think thats its right chose until good boards come out to the amd K10, But dont forgot to chose ddr3 also instead of ddr2 becuse new good boards will have ddr3 and not ddr2 anymore(good for next upgrade)

    No. Read it again:

    http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=41970

He gave a lot of detail and info. He said 2 cards, what speeds they were clocked at ect. It's just that the results he reported given the setup he reported were and are impossible. All of the speculation was on what way he might have gotten it wrong.

Like I said some of the info is BS and some info is missing. You will have to wait till after the NDA on this one.

Ok, so here is an interesting question. For AMD processors, what sort of changes or differences occur-if any-between the opteron and desktop series? I realize that there is different binning, etc, and memory controller differences, but anything else specifically?

I'd say mostly BS at this point. Anyone able to read a little could make up the details he gave. But, as you said we'll have to wait a see.
