Talking What is Intel X48 Chipset?

Hey Guys I was just surfing the web trying to get the latest news on the upcoming X38 Based Intel and Asus Boards when I ran into this news about Intel's upcoming Intel X48 Chipset. What is this? I have read that it will be released right after X38. What's up with this? And what is the BIG difference between the X38 and X48 Chipset. I have also read that Asus will be putting out a Board that will feature the new Intel X48 Chipset.

So if someone and tell me what the heck is going on, it would really help me out. I am in the market for a new board either Intel or Asus. I will be waiting for the news on This X38 and X48 Chipset News.

Any new features compared to X38 you guys may know of. I am a bit suprised that if Intel plans to release this X48 Chipset right after X38, there would be more info out there. I guess they might talk about it at Intel's Upcoming IDF Fall 07.

I heard that X48 is just a higher binned version of the X38. It is supposed to overclock really really well, but, of course, with a huge price tag.

You could do a litle more search

    Coming soon
    Asus ROG
X38 might be the best overclocking board around and we’ve heard that it might be the first board with the X48 version of the X38 chipset. We are not sure if the final name will include X38 or X48 as the brand. ROG stands for Republic of Gamers and no, it is not a real country.

As we’ve said before, it's the cherry picks of the X38 chipset that will overclock even higher and it will set the bars even more. This board will have the X48 chipset and it will cost €250+ and it will leave all the P35 boards eating dust.

A lot of people are excited about this board, but even more so the manufacturers of DDR3 memory.

At the same time as X38

Intel will release a special version of the X38 chipset called X48 and this new old chipset will simply be the faster iteration of X38. This chipset is described as an overclockers dream and will be shipped to selected partners only.

Tier one the usual suspect including Asus will be among first to get them. These boards will be the top of the iceberg and they will be the best of the best, and so will the chipset.

It will be interesting to get our hands on it as X38 / X48 motherboard will leave all P35 boards sitting in the dust.

If Asus's board is gona be the top of the line, so will the price. I guess I am really gona have to do some research on which MB I plan to get. I do like when they say that it's gona be the best, but we have to wait and see how well it will peform. I hope we can start to get some reviews out when the board is released (next week) hopefully.
