Talking Intel Core2 Duo E6700 @5.4Ghz >> -81C on CPU with Kayl Cascade

    Hardware Used:
    Intel Core2Duo E6700 (Batch#L626B092)
    Gigabyte P35-DS3P (F4 bios)
    TEAM Xtreem PC2-9600 C5 2GB Kit
    DRY ICE Pot by Kayl
    Cascade by Kayl
    320MB 8800GTS
    Western Digital 150GB Raptor-X
    Coolermaster Real Power M1000

    Ambients around 22-23C

    CPU is now lapped!!!

    Stepping

    DICE (Dry Ice benches first):

i was confident with this CPU and didn't waste time (well i didn't have much in first place and just jumped straight for 4.5GHz boot and setfsb to 4.8GHz right away heh

    4.8GHz 32M SuperPi run with 1.76v

    4.9GHz 1M SuperPi 1.76v

    4.9GHz 8M SuperPi 1.76v

    4.95GHz 1M SuperPi 1.76v

    5GHz 1M SuperPi 1.74v

5114MHz >> as you can see SetFSB use was not made for this mobo so i just experimented until i found a working one however i ran out of MHz there lol

5200MHz >> still on DICE >> after a bit of experimenting i found another PLL value that worked with the mobo so i was set to go higher which was a relief as i had better cooling to come still

    Froze on me at 5240MHz

i have to thank kayl for rushing me to finish up with dice so i can start benching with cascade and then rushing me on cascade as well *slaps kayl snap heh >>> so don't go telling me why didn't you try this or why is your SuperPi time bla bla bla hehhehehe

    Cascade benching

i knew that 5GHz was absolutely no issue so i just set off booting into windows at 500*10=5GHz wow EEK

    first run

    32M SuperPi @ 5Ghz with 1.7v

next stop 3DMARK06 after the 32M run but i got a strangely low score >> dropped it down to 4.5GHz thinking it could be the CPU but still the score was strange.....PCIe at 16x ....well i gave up troubleshooting quickly as i had no time so will have to investigate that one some other time lol >> sometimes this happens if the vcore is too high but the vcore was only 1.7v so it couldn't have been the case

    moving on
    wPrime 32M at 5133MHz

i needed 5160MHz to finally break 10 second 1M SuperPi so stock efficiency is pretty bad but this is nothing of concern once i get time and start tweaking it down......one thing i did ask from Gigabyte is to provide strap change in bios to select 266 strap as these benchmarks are all done on 333 or worse (in any case MCH latencies are pretty loose)

at this point kayl is starting to bug me again to speed it up......oh well i stuck 1.8v into the CPU and gave 32M a go first hahahahhaha....i tightened the timings a bit to get a slightly more respectable 32M run which is still a good 40-50 seconds too slow at these clocks

    5160MHz 32M SuperPi 1.79v

started a run at 5270 but it stopped on 5th loop from memory so i backed down to
    5240MHz 32M SuperPi 1.8v

    bump in clocks

5320MHz 1M SuperPi 1.8v still with both cores enabled

    5413MHz validation
1 or 2 cores made no difference oddly enough

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=234645

i have high hopes with this CPU and my Duniek pot + LN2

obviously some more tweaking for Pi will take place and we will be rock and rolling into some serious figures heh

    until next time

oh btw did a few benches with QX6700 too heheheheh these boards clock CPUs really nicely for sure :

this was all done on DICE >>> great CPU

    hahah thanks NewBeetle-san

one of the Team Australia guys (sli_dog) ordered the new Kingpin F1 tube

we'll put it through it's paces on LN2 in a couple of months

haven't decided on the board yet but probably an X38 chipset as we are getting some in a few weeks (fingers crossed they are efficient in Pi )

lol about the suggestion of WR (we're not there yet >> Team Japan is the key player in that department heh)

That is one awesome E6700! 5240Mhz on dice is just unbelievable!!! Give it some LN2, I am sure that you will hit a very high Mhz with this little jewel! Good luck mate!

woah man awesome stuff.. blue babies and frosty hardware

Very nice cpu clocks.. shame about the super pi 32m times they're probably around 40-70 seconds off the mark for those cpu clock speeds.. but nice anyway

I've never used dry ice for cooling, but if I can get babes like that, I'll start ASAP. I'm so jealous!

I guess if you can get babes like that everytime you OC, you will be the most popular person on the forum...

But back to OCing, good luck on that WR. Those are some great OCs.

didn't have time for RAM tweaking

but this RAM seemed good i ran it at 630MHz CAS5 with the quad which seemed ok
