you should of read my words more carefully; did i ever say a q6600 could never pass 3.6ghz on air?

Mind posting a screen shot of the voltage settings from uGuru for this OC?
4,050 is my max OC to date, not prime stable, just a test run..

Questions for you guys. Currently I'm stable at 3303mhz over 12 hours prime. My temps look fine nothing over 52C.

    Settings that achieve this are:

    3303mhz
    367mhz cpu frq.
1.35 vcore (1.27 full load windows)
    1:1 FSB DRAM
    2.0 volts mem
    4-4-4-12 2T
    1.25 MCH (NB Voltage)

Now when i try to move beyond a decent OC and start posting real numbers i run into problems. One mainly being the MASSIVE amount of vcore drop, generally 0.06-0.08 volts and high as 0.1 volts under full load. Is this common to see such a huge vdrop? Only thing i can think of is the PSU not being able to handle the huge draw. Next thing that caught my eye was the massive temp difference between the cores. At some points it was up to 10C. Is this commmon as well?

Last OC' settings: (only passed prime for ~ 10 minutes)

    3600mhz
    400mhz
1.47 vcore (windows full load 1.37-.38)
    2.2 mem. volts
    MCH 1.33
    1:1 mem divider
    5-5-5-15 2t

    Thanks for all the help,

    Scott

That wasn't so hard now was it? I have a hard time believing you are only hitting 60C under load with "AIR" but i don't want to argue with you anymore. Nice clock.

I can't believe it but maybe u find it possible... ?

the "G0's" are 95 watt power consumers at default speed...could be part of the reason...the other is probably because of this setup for my Ultra 120-X...the tape is there to stop the spill off or dumping of warm air...i'm forcing the air to completely go over the fins and around the heatpipes.

I see that. You have some serious looking fans on there as well. I bet those push a lot of air. It makes sense now. The tape is a good idea(albeit ugly). Congrats on your clock. You have proved me wrong.

i never said that 3.8ghz on a q6600 air would not pass small ffts. i stated that everest is a unreliable benchmark, and you continue to argue with me.

Could anyone answer my questions? Would the PSU be causing that much vcore drop or is it the mobo? If it is the mobo then is it ok to set a high vcore, lets say 1.5 volts just to get 1.43-45 volts when under load? Last, s it common to see a 10-8C diff. in core temps?

    Q6600 and p5kc question

i wanna oc my q6600 a bit and i noticed some ppl in the official thread have dropped the multiplier which i would like to do to run 400x8 is this possible or is just defaulting to 400x9 still, i am getting mixed reading from windows, cpuz core temp about the actual clock speed?

Dropping the multiplier(in my case) shows incorrect speed in windows and core temp. CPU-Z shows correct speed.

It's locked to go higher. Not sure about a lock to go lower then 6x but why would you want to?

ok, thank you...but...i kindly ask you to drop the idea that prime 95 is mandatory to show stability...it is not a necessary tool ...the real test of stability comes from what a puter user does with his/her system without aborting the program, BSOD, freezing, or randomly reboots...to me, and it should be for you, a true test of stability!

the excercise i did for you proved nothing other than satisfying your appetite for this kind droning...i really wasted 14 hours and 53 minutes of electricity on a project that gets me NO WHERE!...i was already stable.

the tape on the heatsink won't be noticeable when it is put back into the case...the fans are panaflo 115 CFM per fan...yes, they can move some serious air...when not needed, i have the fan speed down to the lowest rpm allowed (based on voltage and cpu temperature).

no, you are wrong about everest..it is a superior tool to check for stability...it shows the weakness almost immediately...i am just going to say that you have no clue on what stability is all about.

you need to park the idea about prime is your so-called validity tool for someone to parade in front of you that his or her system is stable....you are forcing people to really waste electricity to prove something that really is NONE of your business...if you do not accept their overclock, FINE, then don't!...just keep it to yourself...things go much smoother.

Got some New OCs for my q6600. I think I lucked out with this quad, but I need another fan on my rad. I'm now putting ICE on 1/3 of it. Not the best idea, but its temporary. LOL!

3.825ghz Prime stable for 10 minutes or so (currently testing it):

This is my 3.780ghz Prime Stable (420x9)for at least 1 hour. Vista killed the program, but the test itself didn't fail. I will re-test this later.

I need another fan for my triple radiator! Two San Ace + One Arctic cooling doesn't come close to three San Ace fans on high!

I have another stupid question. I know my CPU is ok right now at 67*C. Two cores are at 65*C. This is tollerable to run 24/7, right? The max tollerance for temp is 70*C I thought. As well, I'm under 1.6v. I think i'm at 1.5875v for the cpu. Is this as well to high to run 24/7?

    1) It's the motherboard

    2) Yes, set the vcore higher in bios.

3)Yes, it's common to have difference in temps. Check that you're hsf is seated properly.
