I've got mine up to 3.4GHz, Prime stable for 4 hours with large FFTs. It's getting a little hot on the smaller FFT end of the test, although I'd still say it's pretty cool for being 1GHz over stock and still on air. I'm hopefully going to start with the water cooling next week. Swiftech Apogee GTX and Thermochill PA120.1.

Im a little angry right now because i sold a perfectly good B3 because i bought into all the G0 hype and am very disappointed. I wanted a solid 24x7 air folder at 3.6
Yeh terrible is'nt it, Intel really dropped the ball on these cores, only a 1.20GHz overclock on air all four cores 1.45Vcore is pretty bad
lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's

i am stressing all four cores on AIR, on the IP35 Pro with everest stability test...it is as good as Prime 95 or orthos...the pro is the same as your P5K...each board has its small advantages...if there is one thing that i would like to have on the pro board that you have on the p5k, it is the droop control...but...as it goes in this community, there is a Vdroop mod out for the Pro board....i don't have very good soldering skills so i won't be doing it but the pro still allows me to overclock my "G0" significantly!

as far as the "B3" versus "G0", my B3 was a hottie at 3.6Gz (not prime stable) and my GO is NOT a hottie!...the G0 will do 3.9Ghz but that requires a lot of voltage..but not at 3.84Ghz...voltages needed to support 3.84 are quite surprisingly low with very low temps compare to the B3.

i think you just got a poor performer G0...its the luck of the draw in a lot of cases...sometimes it is the selection of the air cooler that denies good cooling and high overclock.

    my batch is: L720B066

the pro board is excellent choice for the price..it overclocks very well on air with an ultra 120-X...didn't lap the cpu, just the ultra.

if i had to gripe one thing, it is the vdroop...but...there is a simple mod out that requires soldering which i am not very good at. ...that said, attaining 3.9Ghz on air is no small feat! actually, i did a suicide run at 4.0Ghz...right now working wth 3.84Ghz with low vcore compared to my B3.

Ace, what do you consider "low" vcore? Highest I have taken mine is 1.35 in uGuru and that gives me 3.6, 8x450. I have the Ultra 120 Extreme and I have done your bolt mod. My PMW temps are not as low as yours but I do not have a fan on the pmw sink yet. I need to mod my side fan bracket to clear the u120 before it will close yet.

Anyone got a L726A977 08/16/07 or something similar. I just picked one up. I hope to have not picked up another crap chip O, and do i need a certain BIOS on my P5B deluxe to run quad core cpu's or will it be ok on an older bios? Cheers.

...WELL...loaded question there...i believe anything below 1.5 for vcore is low...LOL ...i have 1.475v actual vcore feeding my "G0" at 3.84Ghz...that vcore makes it everest stable...good enough for me....i could lower the vcore more if i wanted for idle or slightly above idle condition usage.

    This is with a 1.525 (I think ) V core.

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=234377

I'm going to try to push to 3.8 ghz later on after more stability tests. I doubt my temps will increase.

    Question

Having problems getting my Asus P5B Deluxe wifi to update its bios. Is it ok to use these Q6600 g0's on old bios? Currently got v0614 installed (June 2006 time). Will it work with this?

You might want to start your own thread on this. If it can POST with the quad in then you can probably flash it with that CPU installed.

I know what he is getting at though, I just picked up a G0 Q6600 (L723A891) and it takes 1.6 vcore to run prime stable @ 3.6 Ghz, won't even post @ 3800 and @ 3.4Ghz it takes 1.46 vcore to run prime stable. My B3 Q6600 runs prime stable @ 1.5 vcore and clocks much better than the G0 chip. The G0 chip runs about 5 deg cooler under load but becuase of the high vcore required it's a moot point and I just wasted $$ thinking the G0 chip would be better. By the looks of it I got a ty chip but I still have my B3.

Its ok Grips, sorted it now anyways, got my chip running

    vid: 1.3125v.

Temps are around 30-36c idle. Core #0 and #1 are running hotter than #2 and #3 by about 4-5c. Room is prob about 20c.

Idleing voltage 1.136v-1.152v. Jumping to 1.27ish when running load.

Okay guys, a few days ago I assembled my system which consists of a Q6600 G0, 4gb OCZ Flexxlc9200, and a Blitz formula motherboard.
I have been tweaking and looking here at the forums to find good bios-settings.
This is what I managed to get so far:

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=234498

The thing is that these settings isn't so optimized. I only get 13.4s in super pi (Or is that good @ 3,8ghz?)

Oh well, thought you could give me some advices of how to reach even higher speeds.

I get these temperatures with my watercooling at 3,5ghz and 1,4 - 1,45vcore and with a normal ambient temperature.

well here is my oc so far, i might not have applied thermal paste right, but so far with same setup on water with d-tek fusion block my temps with b3 were 75-77c loaded, and so far they are only hitting 59c fully loaded at 3.4, i dont know how people are getting such low temps on air at 3.8-3.9, and my vcore is only 1.32-31 loaded. set 1.40 in bios. and 1.36 in windows.

how come no one posts 6+ hours prime anymore?

Half these overclocks honestly dont mean squat. Im sorry, but i can sucide run my L720B066 @ 4.1ghz with 1.57Vcore and have it up long enough to do a superpi, even prime for 15 min, b4 the windows BSOD's or Prime fails.

Can we get longer prime95 times at least 2 hours, if not longer? Some newbies that read this thread automatically think there chip of the same bin can do the exact same and later on post problems when its not stable. :\

Also can you guys please post the bin and week of your processor. I would like to see which are the best overclockers.

well i think the max for my L720B066 while keeping it under 1.5Vcore is this:

If you guys want higher on these chips, its going to require at least water, or your going to need to be brave to go 1.5Vcore+ on air.

i'll test her longer, but she was holding that prime for about 2 hours b4 i windows autoupdate decided to reboot my computer while i wasnt looking. :T

i dont understand why ur irritated by what i said, and big pictures, the pictures are not hosted on these servers they are linked to image hosting websites, well u can do thumbnails if u want but to me it makes it a lot easier and i believe most people will be the same way. sorry man didnt mean to piss u off by saying something about low temps, u commented to my post like u wanted to start an argument. i thought everyone is sharing their oc's here so what if they post big pictures.

Sorry. Not trying to start an argument. I just want to see the posts that you have seen where people are getting low temps on air @ 3.8-3.9ghz. Like i said. I honestly think you are trying to compare your temps with temps that don't exist in the real world.

As for the pictures. Big wide ass pictures make me scroll to read an entire post. I really don't like scrolling to read a really long line of text and i'm sure there are more out there that would agree with that. Aside from that. There are some people with crappy connections. Makes it easier to read a thread without waiting for pictures to load.

I just want you to stop banging your head against a wall for nothing. Thats all.

I've only counted 13 people with 4Ghz or higher in this thread... more people should be getting 4Ghz but they're refusing to push their chips.
