yeah my 680i does 470-475MHz stable on quad so not really impressed by this. I will buy the board that can do 500MHz quad, hoping X38 is the one.

I start wondering if ti's really worth the extra money the lanparty?

I don't get what's so hard to understand here. As I said I don't have no window in my case. All I see is my black case, when the board is installed and the case door is closed. I don't have no x-ray-vision, I'm sorry.

Don't open this thread if you don't want to see the board.

    Your words:

"....flashy green and yellow Dimm slots on the Lanparty and red PCB combined with blue and white slots on the Infinity are just too much for my taste"
and i'm sorry to point it out. Who cares about motherboard color. It's totally irrelevant.

would you not buy a video card because you didnt like the way the cooler was shaped?

Are you a lawyer? You seem to have the habit of taking sentences totally out of context and then telling your own stories.

Read my whole postings and then understand. Now, step by step again for you:

    1) I don't like the color scheme
    2) I like good price/performance ratio
    3) As long as 2) is fulfilled, 1) doesn't count anymore for me as it's of less importance to me in comparison to 2)

I said that I would still buy the board, regardless of the color.

Now please back to topic. I totally missed the quad-core results. I have to admit that ~470Mhz are nothing to moan about. As I had anticipated the board seems to be a great budget overclocking board.

Andre. Sorry your thread has turned into a debate over the boards color. I would like to know what your quad core cpu's max fsb in other boards. Is it a 470mhz wall of the cpu with x8 multi or have you had better fsb results in other boards? My question is:

Is 470mhz x8 the highest fsb you have been able to obtain using that cpu?

I just bought one to replace my XBX2. Anyone wanna buy it?

I just want to see my new Q6600's potential, and at present it's being hindered by the terrible quad clocking properties of this board.

Not positive about where he got those prices, but he might have gotten them from Andre's OP...second line states:

Infinity series price always are good for end user. I hear this mobo price about 110~120 USD.

We all know the egg will jack up the prices at the first hint of interest. Maybe after the initial surge the board will be priced back down to this range.

Hmmm it's tough deciding between this and the DS3L, which is $100. I miss my 965-dark so much though, maybe it's big brother here would take care of me :>

4 phase pwm, will be fine for dual cores, quad cores demand more power delivery potential, the LP board is a better bet for higher OC's on quads..

450-470 fsb is not bad though for the price..

Totally true. Someone here (I can't rememeber) posted it's availability on newegg 2 days ago. I SWEAR TO GOD the price was 129. A day later i mentioned the price being as such and i was told differently. Checked again and sure enough the price went up 1 day after it was posted up on the egg. Those bastards.

I wouldn't be surprised. Log into various popular forums and see what everyone is wanting. Go back to your boss and let them know what all the 'hot' products are. Jack up the price.

Look at what they did when Q6600 price drop hit. They still had theirs at approx 100 bucks higher.

If you ask me this is a automated system, i.e. software controlled. All products that are in the top seller category get a higher price until the demand decreases again to a certain level. And so on. A lot of shops do this nowadays. But they sure also have employees tell them what could perhaps be priced even higher than the system would suggest. Not good for us, but real good money for them.

I would have to also believe that it is an automated system which monitors the volume of sales and adjusts prices accordingly. Seen it too often across too many lines of products to believe that little elfs are monitoring our sites.

Not elves...gnomes...Extreme Performance Gnomes...the worst kind.

Great review--nice to see such a solid and affordable board to put Asus on the defense...maybe prices will drop!

Got the price range from an earlier post.

Well that's how business is, if they see a sudden surge of demand they see a sudden urge to raise prices.

The "Warranty will be void" sticker attaching the NB sink to the PCB is a bit annoying. First thing I'd want to do when I opened the box would be to give it a lick of AS5... we all know from 939 experience the DFI's need it.

You can remove the stock NB heatsink without tearing the sticker. I did it. Just be gingerly about it.

Also, it's advisable to aim a 92mm or larger fan at the NB as it gets quite hot, even on stock volts.

    So far on mine...3.0GHz on my Q6600, 1.28v, 333FSB (1333FSB), DDR2-1000 5-5-5-15.

Just installed Windows, .NET 2.0, sound/video card drivers, etc. Will have more results in the next few days.

    Looking forward to your results.

I'm looking for a replacement for this temperamental GA-965P-DS3 for my Q6600 (B3). 378x9 (3400) is stable as a rock at 1.45v, drooping below 1.4v, but 3.5GHz at any voltage refuses to even boot unless I trick the mobo by dropping the multi, then upping it once it's booted the new FSB... in short, it's not a nice board with this chip. This Infinity might be a nice cheap alternative. Though the P35 Lanparty is tempting.

It's a pity neither of the boards are in NZ yet.
